I am in a car, travelling the final stretch of a three-day journey from my vacation in  Florida. And again I apologize for being in absentia for the  majority of this farewell season. I was anticipating that Idol would carry on until May – as usual – so it has been disappointing ar my end as well. I hope to add more articles about Idol now that my schedule will be back to normal.

So, here is what to expect this week, straight  from AmericanIdol.Com:

GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING IDOLS KELLY CLARKSON AND CARRIE UNDERWOOD TO PERFORM ON SERIES FINALE OF “AMERICAN IDOL”.

The Three-Night Grand Finale Week Kicks Off With. AMERICAN IDOL: AMERICAN DREAM, a 90-Minute Retrospective, Tuesday, April 5

AMERICAN IDOL, the cultural phenomenon that changed the face of television and created some of today’s biggest music stars, will kick off a three-night Grand Finale week on Tuesday, April 5 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), with AMERICAN IDOL: AMERICAN DREAM. The can’t-miss, 90-minute retrospective will feature host Ryan Seacrest, current and former judges, former IDOLs and contestants and the behind-the-scenes team sharing their personal IDOL memories, as they reflect on what the show has meant to them and how it became the groundbreaking series that it is today. In addition to Seacrest, original IDOL judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson offer never-before-revealed stories about how IDOL came to be. This is a very special, inside look at the journey that IDOL has taken viewers on during its 15-season run.

The following night, America’s most crucial – and last-ever – vote will take place when the remaining finalists battle it out live from Dolby Theatre on Wednesday, April 6 (8:00-9:00 PM live ET/tape-delayed PT). AMERICAN IDOL’s two-part Grand Finale will be filled with surprise appearances and star-studded performances, including winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, who return to the IDOL stage one last time to perform on Thursday, April 7 (8:00-10:06 PM live ET/tape-delayed PT).The farewell celebration will continue, as IDOL pays tribute to the past 15 seasons, the amazingly talented contestants and the millions of fans who called, tweeted, texted and championed their IDOLS, before the 15th and final AMERICAN IDOL is crowned.

In addition to superstars Clarkson and Underwood, Thursday’s final episode will have all-star performances by former IDOLs, including Fantasia, Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani, Allison Iraheta, Amber Holcomb, Blake Lewis, Bo Bice, Bucky Covington, Brandon Rogers, Casey James, Carly Smithson, Chris Daughtry, Clark Beckham, Clay Aiken, Colton Dixon, Constantine Maroulis, Danny Gokey, Diana DeGarmo, Elliott Yamin, Ace Young, George Huff, James Durbin, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Justin Guarini, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Kimberley Locke, Kree Harrison, LaToya London, Lauren Alaina, Melinda Doolittle, Pia Toscano, Sanjaya, Skylar Lane, Tamyra Gray and more, before host Ryan Seacrest announces the results of America’s votes and the final IDOL is crowned.

Great lineup but it begs one question: “Where are David Archuleta and Jason Castro?” So strange. Comments are now open for business.

  1. So bummed Phillip Phillips is in legal jockeying with Idol. I would’ve like to have seen him.

  2. Jessica-He’s going to be there after all! He even tweeted a little video of him at rehearsal today. I was bummed when he wasn’t on the original list so I was glad to see his and idol’s tweet saying he was coming. Kelly obviously won’t be there but she taped something for the finale when was she at idol the other month.

MCL-Jason said somewhere that he’ll be on the red carpet but not in the show because he has another gig and there’s been a lot speculating about David Archuleta but nobody really knows. There’s been a few people that weren’t on that original list (and now I can’t remember who, darn it) that have been in rehearsal pics/videos but not him.

  8. Wait. I was mistaken. It is Phillip Phillips who will be there. David is still uncertain. So strange. Could someone add info in the comments if David Archuleta is a go?

  9. They used a Phillip Phillips song on DWTS last night.

Should be a good show, they have plenty of talent anyway. Hopefully someone has devised a way to showcase them and not leave us with the ultimate frustration.

Does anyone know where and when the red carpet show will air?

(Jason answered a response to that photo thusly: “and when anyone says anything about here eyes she replies, “They’re my daddy’s eyes” – She’s the sweetest!”)

Also Castro-The-Band tweeted a half hour ago that they are doing press for AI right now: https://twitter.com/CastroTheBand/status/717452778080088064

  19. BTW, if anyone is interested in hearing what Jason Castro (and his sibs) were doing last night, someone named “SnapCracklyPop” put up some bootleg from the show on their YouTube channel (the last four videos posted, right up top): https://www.youtube.com/user/SnapCracklyPop/videos?nohtml5=False
