About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

Sonika was the stand out of the night for me. Tristan had a few problems, probably just a combination of age and nerves. I had hoped to hear John Wayne Shulz but got a short clip of him driving his pickup and returning home for his forgotten guitar.

My takeaway from group round? These judges, who are all currently performers, do not care a whit if a contestant forgets lyrics, because they all know that performers sometimes forget lyrics, even ones they have engraved on their hearts and brains…so long as the singers KEEP PERFORMING. The ultimate sin to them is a singer that lets the audience down.
Also, I am mad impressed by the guy with mono–Trent? My brother had mono, it lasts for months and makes you feel like standing is roughly comparable to climbing Everest. Mad props to him for getting up there all on his own and putting on a show. (Which actually feeds in to what I just said about the judges.)
Also Dalton is growing on me.

I was going to keep track of names of the people I liked, but it didn’t last long. I did, however, note that I liked the voices of Tristan, Jeveve, and Trent. There were a few others too, but I don’t know their names. The season looks promising.

Hi All, Still digging out from one of the Jonas Brothers who, uninvited, crashed at my house, depositing 20 plus inches of snow on my lawn!!!
I watched last night and agree, it all went so fast! I loved the guy at the end, Manny! He as great, I like the blond kid in the chicken noodle soup group, lol, he was good too! Hopefully next week we will get to see a little more of each of them!
Me thinks this won’t be the last year, JLo was making an awful lot of racket about it ending…Dun…Dun…Dunnnnnn!!!!!!!!

I still love Tristan and Jordan Sasser. Mega star power. There were others but I am reserving judgement until next week. We should see more solo performances from the Top 24. I a,mature they will be highlighted as they were year.

Did anyone notice that Trent sounded like Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboy in his post performance interview? He is a talented singer, not really my style though. I think he should be sent home. He has a contagious illness and failed to meet the requirements of the group exercise. The group round is a multi part test that he failed to complete. I’ve had Mono and it’s not fun. These contestants are in extremely close contact throughout the competition and it’s not fair to risk the others for a sympathy story line, no mater how good the guy is.
The next to the last group was very entertaining! They did a great job of showcasing each of their talents as well as coming together as a vocal group. The tall fellow had a great rich voice to stood out in their harmonies without crowding out the others. The fellow who was the last auditioner (Manny?) showed himself to be a natural entertainer.The girl should try to maintain laryngitis all of the time. The rasp was a nice addition to her voice.
Tristan was back on her game compared to the first night, but her group had a few misfires. Sonica’s group, in spite of the contrived mean team drama, was among the best of the night. Their group could have called itself “Foreigner,” but I guess that was already taken.
There is a blonde girl that gets a lot of camera time in casual shots but I don’t recall seeing her audition and John Wayne was obscured again in a group that under performed but went through anyway. The judges talked over their performance so I don’t know if they are writing him off or planning to let him make his mark later on.

The “man bun” is an immediate disqualifier for Jordan Sasser. It’s today’s equivalent of a mullet. 🙂

LOLOLOL, my some has a man bun! I made the mistake of calling it a man bun, was reprimanded and sent to my room; it is a top knot so he says! Go figure!
I agree, Trent should have been sent home, for two reasons, he’s sick with a highly contagious illness and two, he just wasn’t that good. I heard others who were better that were sent home!
I was totally confused by some of the ones who were put through with great raves from the judges; the girl that had the pocket book this around her hips, to name one! I couldn’t tell in that group who was actually singing!

Make him stop it, for his own good, make him loose the man bun. I’m going to insist that he not play the harmonica while wearing the bun. Harp players everywhere have an image to maintain.
I guess I lost the girl with purse around her hips in the shuffle. I thought sick boy sang ok (that’s the last time I’m remotely supportive of him) but they ride around in small sedans with five or six kids in them, live in the same house, eat together and some do even more, so I see no excuse for allowing him to stay.
They still have two out of three rooms to fill up with bus passengers, so they like to irritate you by sending home some of the ones who might draw attention from the “winner” and keep some who have no business there to ride the bus.
So where is your prediction of the winner? You have usually ferreted the winner out by now. Is MCL right, or do you have your eye on someone else?

Yes! Gene, they are naming snow storms, as if in some way it helps to give them a name! Seriously though this one should have been named Danny, being that the last nor’easter was Sandy!!! 😳

My prediction is a guy will win, Manny, Dalton or MaKenzie and maybe Adam if he gets some air time and makes it that far! Girls, I think Sonika is going to do well, Tristan will, but only by the pimping she is going to receive! That’s my early prediction!

He has retired the harmonica, that phase has passed. However, the hubby bought a banjo, says he’s gonna learn to play it…stay tuned!

El Nino has produced an interesting winter for sure, After the minor dusting we received, I quit paying attention. I couldn’t understand why it was so traumatic in the North East where they are well equipped for snow and have had so little this year so far.
I only know a few of the contestants by name so far so most of those names aren’t ringing a bell for me. I do know Triston, Sonica, Brent, John Wayne, Manny and a few others. After Sonica’s group Harry said to J-Lo while pointing at the cards on the desk, “that girl has a real gift.” There were only two girls in her group. I think she lacks a lot of the other characteristics that make for a successful Idol contestant though.
Shame about the harmonica but I hope your husband does well learning the banjo.I would recommend that he keep it very handy and pick it up often. Several times a day if possible. Once the calluses develop on his finger tips it become easier for him. There are a lot of good resources on you tube but you have to watch a LOT of them to find someone with a teaching style and speed that works for you and also has good video content so you can see what they are doing clearly. The storm was traumatic in the northeast because it was record breaking in many areas, including mine. 32 inches in one day was unbelievable. It takes a lot of manpower and time to remove this snow. It is still impossible on many streets for two cars to fit side by side. People had to dig their cars out so there are huge piles everywhere from that. Plus 8 people died from heart attacks in my state from shoveling snow. The mid-Atlantic is NOT prepared to deal easily with this much snow!

I was referring to the North East, but I’m sorry for the problems you experienced in your area. It’s like that here when we have a large snow or ice storm. I can’t recall one being named before.

Gene, there’s this amnesia that happens in the New York metropolitan region, where every spring it is as though winter has never existed (possibly because spring does not exist), so that when it snows the next year it’s as though it’s the very first time it has ever snowed during a New York winter.
(That being said, we came within one-tenth of an inch of the all time record snowfall for New York in Central Park, so it was quite a lot of snow, too much of which is still sitting at the side of sidewalks and in streets as grey and black and yellow mountains of ice, and at corners as wide moats of disgusting slush.)

The winter storm name was new to me too, Gene, so I just discovered that The Weather Channel started naming them in 2012.

Sometimes the local news will make up a name like “Winter Storm ’16’ or something like that but I haven’t heard of a winter storm being named like a hurricane or typhoon before
