About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

It’s easy MCL, pick them all. That was the best night of American Idol auditions that I have ever seen. The girls were very strong and the guys tonight were all good as well. Maybe they will throw away the trophy and convert AI into a new music performance show for new talent. Ya think?
Thee were two of the ladies that I didn’t care for much, one was too “runny” for my taste, the other too Broadway, and a strong contender for trouble during Hollywood week.
Last night, I was disappointed to see the big country boy go home. He was very entertaining and I think they could work on his pitch as easily as the contestant who followed him and had the same issue. BTW, Shelby Z was on the just ended season of the Voice and finished around 5th I think. She left in the mass cut before the finale. Not really my cup of tea but she seemed to have a strong fan base.

I enjoyed tonight’s auditions…I see plenty of pimping projects in our future! Now, how many of these talented people will actually make top 24? I hope if the producers have learned anything over the last 15 years, let the chips fall where they may, don’t manipulate a winner, by throwing out the competition!

They can’t resist pimping and are already doing it. When I saw so many great young musicians tonight, I had the same thought as you about the eliminations. First we have that stop in Hollywood where we find that half of them can only sing one song.
It’s unusual for me to like any of the guys but I especially liked the guy from NE Mississippi that lived on a cattle ranch with it’s own steak house restaurant. He had a good dose of the dropped on his head humor too. They guy that was in love with J-Lo had a really nice voice and resisted the temptation to over embellish until the very end. The kid from New Orleans (Nawlens) was a pleasant surprise as well.
It would be easier to say which girls I didn’t like, there wee so many good ones, but I won’t. The blue eyed soul singer with blonde hair who played piano and offered to play her guitar was very good as was the last girl. Most of them put a nice artistic spin on their songs. I would pay to see several of this group of girls perform today.
As a group, this year’s contestants are very mature and polite and handle themselves very admirably. I suspect a bit of coaching from the past contestants that have mentored the auditioners, but it is still nice to see.

Ditto, all that you mentioned! I loved the Cattle farmer/restaurant guy too; dropped on the head humor is my absolute favorite! 🙂 The blond girl, with the famous? dad, yep, loved her, I think Keith was willing to take her up on her offer to play, but Jlo stopped that quick like!
I think we are in for the long haul with the little girl who’s mother is in the military; its gonna be a go USA, Oo-Rah kind of year! My girdle must have been too tight or in a bunch when she sang, cause I just was not feeling it!
IF, the judges and producers can get out of their own way this year, the field is full of talent…let’s just hope our already crowned top 24 is the very best of the best and not half fodder, half mediocre, and one pimping project!
So what have you been up to? Have you been to any great concerts? I have been following Mia Z and Postmodern Jukebox and am hoping one or both come in range to see! I am extremely bummed that I did not get tickets to see Adele…

Yeah those folks that are unpredictable and off the wall are always fun to be around. One of my little granddaughters most of taken a fall at some time. She’s a hoot, She would have said that the big farm boy that was cut while we looked at J-Lo’s ****, was “too much big.”
There were a few of the girls, including Major Mom’s daughter who conveyed the emotion and message of their song in a very natural and compelling way. Back off of that last cinch on your corset strings and then you may be able to “feel their pain,” I enjoyed her and was touched by her story (just as planned by the producers) but she is being pimped and she wasn’t my favorite of the girls. At this point I don’t have a favorite but it’s a real pleasure to see so many very talented new performers. I cringe at the thought of what has happened to them since these auditions, as you said. That’s one of the reason’s I don’t bother to learn their names at this point. Here today gone tomorrow.
My wife and I saw a group called “St Paul and the Broken Bones” that are a band of young collage age kids with a horn section and a very dynamic singer fronting the band. They do mostly original music that is in the vein of Wilson picket etc. Kind of a a soul / R&B revival. I didn’t enjoy them as much as their fans did, but I was glad to see young people getting into that kind of music.
We saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band again (3rd time) and they are the best current touring band that I know of. Outstanding talent throughout the group. A few months ago they recreated the entire Mad Dogs and Englishmen concert with their own 11 piece band and all of the living members of the original Joe Cocker / Leon Russell band. In the show that we saw, they included four of the MD&E songs. Outstanding! I saw Joe Cocker on his nation wide tour that followed on the heels of that concert, so it was a special treat to see. The opening band for this show was a little blues band from Arkansas who brought along a special guest who was the oldest original Mississippi delta blues man still performing. About mid set, they rolled out(literally) 92 year old Cedell Davis, who toured with the likes of Muddy Waters BB King and so on.It was great to see the enthusiasm this old blues man had for his craft and the joy he had when the audience ate him up. Derick Trucks is good about finding these old forgotten musicians and bringing them back almost from the dead to thrill, and be thrilled by the crowd. Susan Tedeschi has performed and recorded with a lot of the old blues men and women throughout her career.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnal Friday night. Can’t wait! Mia-Z is on one of (name eludes me, the kid that won last year’s Voice) the songs on his debut EP. It’s very good and I believe it is Mia that makes it so. I came dangerously close to seeing Haley Reinhart perform with Postmodern Jukebox but failed to pull the trigger. I regret it still.
How about you Vonnie? I’ve missed chatting with you. What are you doing besides wearing your corset too tight. (you have to suffer for beauty, right?)

LOL…I will loosen my strings a bit! Yeah! a lot of chatter about her mom before she auditioned, not a surprised family when she magically appeared…been around the block too many times with this show to realize when I am being sucked into the idol machine!
I live in a musically dry county, a lot of local bands, but with the exception of one or two, not really worth the effort to go listen, combine that with living in a college town where clubs are crowded with under age hooligans, makes it more appealing to stay home and hold down the recliner! That said, I did stumble across and unique fellow while traveling in PA, goes by the name Banjo Jimmy, there’s some videos of him on the internet, he says bluegrass but really has a New Orleans vibe…an odd place to come across this guy, but he was very entertaining! other than that, I got Nuthin’
So did you watch the voice? Kind of figured out really fast that Jordan was going to win…my favorites went home early, but still enjoyed a few of the other contestants.

There were quite a few good singers last night, but most of them blur in my memory–three stuck, though:
The guy who sang “Phantom of the Opera” his own way. IIRC, it wasn’t so much his voice that struck me (maybe a little tight?) but the way he turned the song into something different but still fully recognizable–that’s not easy to do, and I liked it a lot.
The girl with the flower headband, who kept right on singing through Harry’s shenanigans, she really caught me (and not just for her poise, I liked her voice and the intensity behind it).
And the last girl–Tristan? (I always thought that was a boy’s name.) The one with the mom in the military–she has a lovely voice that does NOT sound like a 15-year-old, not in her voice or her singing or in what she has to say. I loved the tone of her voice, I loved that she chose a song solidly in her range, and I loved the sensitivity of her delivery.
They are talent-heavy this year so far!

Clay is right about the judges. My problem with his Tweets is this is the show that gave him his start and he sounds so ungrateful.
