I am so grateful to NBC for hosting this annual Christmas special with Michael Buble.  It is reminiscent of years past when we were annually treated to wonderful Christmas Specials by  legends such as Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra,  Judy Garland, Andy Williams and so many more.  We need to see and hear more of this kind of entertainment – where one can sit around the TV with the family and simply  immerse their heart and soul into the spirit of the season. 

This year, Michael Buble hosts his special in Hollywood.   Musical performances will include Celine Dion, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings and Tori Kelly.  Special appearances will include Jay Leno, Kylie Jenner, William Shatner, Blake Shelton and Gigi Hadid.

That’s quite the eclectic guest list. I think everyone out there has a reason to tune in to the show on Thursday night. This potpourri of guests offers something for everyone – best of all being Michael’s genuine, charismatic performing style.

“Featured songs include holiday favorites “This Christmas,” “Here Comes Santa Claus,” “Jingle Bells,” “White Christmas,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and more. In addition, Bublé will be accompanied by his band for an intimate “unplugged” medley of songs requested by his social media followers. The special will also feature the premiere of Bublé’s new Christmas song, “The More You Give (The More You’ll Have),” available for sale and streaming Friday, Dec. 4.”

That’s right – Michael also debuts his new Christmas song, “The More You Give (The More You’ll Have)”  on Thursday’s show and, as mentioned above, the song is now available for sale and steaming. You can easily stream it on Apple Music or download it on iTunes Music.

Michael’ special airs on NBC at 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 10th.

About Masterclass Lady

Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler. She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8. In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman. In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins. In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright. In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins. Under Rosanne Simunovic’s direction, the Timmins Youth Singers and the Timmins Concert Singers have been featured in numerous choral festivals and performing opportunities outside of Timmins.     Should be good. I like Sharon Jones but I have never heard her sing songs other than her usual R&B / Soul genres. She has an interesting history in the music business. I too miss the type of Christmas specials that you mentioned in your article. I happened to see one with Karen and Richard Carpenter a few nights ago that was good, but sad at the same time.

    Be sure to stay tuned afterwards for the movie of the week drama based on Dolly Parton’s song “Coat of Many Colors.” The song is autobiographical for Dolly and seems to be well portrayed in this piece, judging from the promotional video posted at NBC.com. The cast features Jennifer Nettles as Dolly’s Mother and Rickey Schroeder as her father. Little Dolly is played by Alyvia Alyn Lynn who seemed well suited for the part. I have always been touched when I hear the song and I hope the movie lives up to it.

    Oh – The Carpenters!! I love them. Merry Christmas Darling is so beautiful. Love hearing her mellow and velvety voice on this song. Gorgeous.

    gene!! i have missed you and your insights! mcl! i watched a dvd tonight and think it would be right up your alley. it is called ‘seymour: an introduction’. it is ‘a film by ethan hawke’. “Pianist Seymour Bernstein, who gave up performing for teaching, discusses his passion for music and his philosophy of life.” mcl, i didn’t think of you at first, but when seymour starts talking about ‘you have to breathe properly’ when he is talking to his piano students, that is when i started thinking about you. there is another part that is absolutely fascinating. he is at the steinway ‘store’ testing out all the pianos, finding the right one for a certain performance. how he tested those pianos and how he responded to them and what he said about them just opened my world about pianos. seymour is such a wise gentle soul.

    and again, i learned about this movie on the charlie rose show when charlie was interviewing ethan hawke.

    I was called away unexpectedly last night and ended up ended up missing the Micheal Buble special. What Idol Girl said rings true for his special last year. Seems like Blake was pretty crude if I recall correctly. I wish I had seen / heard the music though.

    In the documentary about Karen Carpenter that included their Christmas special, Richard talked about the last TV special they made and how he and Karen had rebelled against the network’s insistence on having comedy skits, awkward interviews and so on. The duo won out in the end and made a special that was just music and was outstanding. MCL, I love “Merry Christmas Darling” as well. Karen had a wonderful gift that was lost too soon.

    I had set my DVR to record Dolly’s movie and thought it was remarkably well done. Very touching story.

    Hunter, Thank you for the kind words. I have been lurking on the Voice discussions but couldn’t think of much to add given the way they slash promising artist from the lineup for little reason. Last week reminded me what I don’t like about the show. I think I have seen part of the show that you were talking about. I remember someone trying out a lot of different Steinways to find one that suited him. I love Steinway pianos BTW. Great old school craftsmanship and a sound like no other. I have no business in the same room with one.

    I love Michael Buble he’s a throwback performer to the days of the crooner, maybe that’s why I like him so much. I recall all the records my parents played in the day, Sinatra, Martin etc. I don’t know MCL if you saw the induction ceremony to the Canadian Walk of Fame on Dec. 17th, but one of the inductees was Michael Buble. He’s such a great guy and unashamedly Canadian, which makes me love him even more. Glad he was included he deserves the recognition.
