Update: With 15 minutes to the live show, it looks like Kimberly, Koryn and Sawyer are generating the most buzz on iTunes. The Popularity Icon is all filled for these three singers and rather empty for India,Meghan and Joshua. India sounds amazing. Do not let her slip through the cracks everyone.

And so, finally, we see a subtle twist in the makeup of the Top 6 singers. Team Christina and Team Pharrell are bestowed with the amazing talents of India Carney/Kimberly Nichole and Koryn Hawthorne/Sawyer Fredericks respectively while Teams Adam and Blake are left with one artist each – Joshua Davis and Megan Linsey – to duke it out.
Aw – C’est Dommage, Non?
Uh -No! It is about time we were set free from the Adam/Blake monopoly on this show. Because, at the end of the day, Teams Christina and Pharrell are blessed with incredibly gifted singers and I would be beyond thrilled to see any one of them as the winner.
However, presently, Sawyer Fredericks is doing some serious damage in the iTunes Rock Charts so, when you put 2*2 together….well, you can do the math, right? You know that kid has it in the bag. He won this show from the minute he opened his mouth with his gutsy, earthy, performance of “Man Of Constant Sorrow” during the Blind Auditions. He still is as “green as my valley” but, looking back, so many of these stars start out rough but raw and, over time and skillful mentoring, grow in to viable and distinct artists.

For example, Carrie Underwood was a bit of a train wreck on American Idol and look at her now? A superstar! And a genuine and refined one at that!!
However, no one on Season 8 on The Voice – with the exception of unjustly eliminated singer, Mia Z, – can sing like India Carney. No one! She brings impeccable skill and artistry to this competition and, although I don’t normally enjoy an embellished version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow“, her interpretation of this song last week was a tour de force. A sublime work of art. Not one note was out of tune or misplaced in her skillful, melismatic performance of this song.

In addition, both India and Sawyer are loaded with undeniable charisma – they are the complete package.
Koryn and Kimberly – although fantastic at their craft – kind of cancel each other out. They are outstanding and pretty fearless on that stage, but quite similar in their vocal style! Koryn, given her young age is quite the vocal tigress, isn’t she? My concern is the gravely sound in her vocal texture. It is a bit grating to the ear and she needs to technically address this issue. However, there is no doubt that this young lady is very gifted.
This week, the Top 6 will be singing two songs each so we are in for a fabulous and exciting evening of entertainment.
The Performance Show of The Voice airs Monday, May 4th at 8:00 PM on NBC, followed by the Results Show on Tuesday, May 5th – same time, same station. Only one singer will be eliminated this week. Next week, five singer s will compete in the Semi-Final show, with a chance to advance to the Top 4 Finale in two weeks.
Good luck to all the singers. Comment away everyone!
A friend of mine from my Adam Lambert days had nothing but praise – or was it NO praise…for the over-production on Sawyer’s “Take me to the River” last night. Unfortunately I failed to set my DVR to record and I’m a little afraid to watch the playback. But I will download. Hope you’re having a good day, MCL!!

They had him surrounded by several female dancers during that song.

Jrxgirl- He sang the song very well but the crazy manic dancers were such a distraction. It was cray, cray.

I agree with you, MCL, in regard to India’s singing of “Over the Rainbow”. Wow, just wow. Embelished, yes, but in the right way. Plus I love her hair :).

I thought that India’s version of “Over the Rainbow” was overly embellished. For me, she’s a technical singer (when she’s not having pitch problems) but I don’t ever feel her emotionally. Also, she doesn’t seem to have any idea who she is as a singer. She did not do well tonight so I was surprised she was saved. I think it’s a two-horse race between Meghan and Sawyer.

OK, I gathered my courage about me & watched the “Take Me to the River” performance. Yes, it was pretty awful what the dancers were doing but I thought Sawyer “rolled” with it extremely well & got even better when he got in front of them. I think “Shine On” was epic. What an amazing singer, performer & person! I also watched Joshua Davis’ “My Life” (I think that’s the title) & was also impressed. He is continuing to do his own thing “under the radar” so to speak & getting a lot of exposure. Hopefully it will pay off for him in terms of his post-Voice career.
I was sorry to see Kimberly go. She was a favorite for me. I will follow with interest.
