I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was to see and hear this talented young artist perform during Week 2 of the Blind Auditions of The Voice. Where did he come from?  Like where?  He is a superstar waiting to be discovered.

Sawyer Fredericks (his name alone is a star’s name) wowed the judges when he performed an utterly unique and and heartfelt version  of I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow.  The maturity and the expressiveness of his 15-years-old voice is truly prodigious. He is one of those few artists that can captivate you while standing in one position. He needs no gimmicks – his voice is his gimmick. And his artistry.

All four judges turned their chairs for Sawyer but Pharrell won the day. Sawyer picked Pharrell because he stressed  originality in his mentoring approach and Sawyer felt that this very appealing to him. I agree – I think a Sawyer/Pharrell team is a perfect fit and they are going to rise to the top of the heap.

I honestly think he is going to win. I know it is very early in the season and there are still singers yet to be seen or heard but Sawyer will give them all a run for their money. He is a true artist – and individual – and has a very bright future ahead of him.

Have a listen below. Or click  HERE.  Sawyer  sings with nuance and style and his technical skills are excellent. This young man came prepared to win!
