Well, this is it everyone! The week of the Top 24 Reveal! I am very excited and hopeful about this season – American Idol, the one that I know and love, is back with a vengeance.

Now, I know the Top 24 names have been leaked all over the Internet but I am here to non-spoil you – unless you want to be! If so, head on over to Twitter at @idolspoilers or MJsBigBlog.Com and smile at the names on the list. Everyone who is on that list SHOULD be on that list.

And it is an extremely diverse groups of singers. I can truly say that, at this point, I love all of them.

However, the Top 24 semi-finals often unlocks an underdog or two. Remember David Cook and his “Hello” performance? He went on to win American Idol Season 7!

American Idol airs on Wednesday, February 18th and Thursday, February 19th at 8:00 PM on Fox.

About Masterclass Lady

Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler. She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8. In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman. In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins. In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright. In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins. Under Rosanne Simunovic’s direction, the Timmins Youth Singers and the Timmins Concert Singers have been featured in numerous choral festivals and performing opportunities outside of Timmins.     I did not like that sing-off deal last night. That was unkind and, I think, unnecessary. (And based on the sing-off alone, I’d have made the opposite choice.)

    I think Daniel is adorable, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea to let him compete before his voice has had a chance to settle.

    Yes I am concerned about Daniel’s voice change as well. I guess time will tell if he is able to avoid the voice change problem while this show is on.

    I thought the sing-off between the two male country singers was not necessary. They were both good and should have earned a place in the Top 24. That being said, Riley would not have been my pick – I thought his fellow competitor (forgot name) had a beautiful tone to his voice and tons of charisma on stage.

    Yes, I knew you were speaking about the two girls from last evening. I actually liked Maddie. I would have chosen her. She has a ton of charisma and a sparkle to her voice.

    On the slightly oddball side, Joey Cook is growing on me–she has an interesting tone to her voice. (She needs to articulate her lyrics better, though.) And I’m liking Trevor Douglas–taking on Elvis takes chutzpah, and I was charmed by his asking permission before bounding over to shake hands.

    I’m really looking forward to this year’s Idol. So far, I’m impressed with quite a few of the singers! Hope it’s a good year!!!

    MCL, Riley is my pick to win it. He’s version of In My Car caught my attention and is my most played audition this season. With his ability to play acoustic and electric guitar and toss his long blond locks around, he could go far.

    Janey – I am intrigued by him and he sure has an individual look and sound. I just thought that the singer (name?) who was eliminated in the sing-off had the better voice. And I loved his look as well.

    That being said, Riley comes to this show with some experience under his belt and that cannot be a bad thing.

    I’m in love with Nick Fradiani. We are both from the small-town shoreline area of Connecticut. Our high schools were soccer rivals. Although his band (Beach Avenue) has played all over the country, I know well the small venues he has played in Connecticut and all along the Boston-New York Corridor. I think he is handsome, polite, professional, and talented. He is really in the moment, in the music. I hope America still votes for him even though he is “old.”

    I also love Trevor. He is mature both in his musical choices and his bearing. I love how smart he is. He is comfortable in his own skin, and he’s a performer.

    I always want the girls to do great, and there are some truly talented ones, but so far only Joey Cook and Katherine Winston are really my thing. Here is Katherine Winston’s Reverb Nation page: http://www.reverbnation.com/katherinewinston
    I don’t know for sure that these are original, but if so she is a sure a competent songwriter, especially for a young kid. I love the natural vibrato in her voice. I do think she needs add something (not sure what) to her presentation to make it a little more unique. (A side note, my son just walked sleepily out of his room (11:30 am- he’s 14) and asked, “Why are you playing that annoying music?”). LOL.

    While Jax is clearly talented, there is something off putting about her. Maybe the face tattoo “X” is too distracting. I think she has a unique tone but she works it too much. Work the lyrics, too! Maddie is pretty and talented, but she needs to relax. Every move physically and vocally seems planned for me.
