Performing Masterclass For America’s Got Talent Season 9: The Top 12

Well, just two more weeks and we will crown another AGT winner.

Look at the talent in that picture. Pretty much any one of these acts could win but I am still rooting for Miguel Dakota. He is the most marketable because he possesses every element you look for in a star – talent, charisma, personality and room to grow.

However, deep down, it would be great to see a magician take the win. So much work and creativity goes into his/her routine. I can’t believe Collin Keyes came 5th last year. Or was it 6th?

Anyway, I thought for certain the younger audience would rally behind him and push him further. However, he is doing very well since AGT so, in the end, it is all about using the AGT platform to boost your career.

The Performance Show airs on NBC at 9:00 PM on Tuesday, September 9th, followed by the Results Show on Wednesday, September 10th at 9:00 PM.

Comments are now open for business.

  2. I would really love to see Emily or Acro Army win. They are both such huge class acts, and could put on an extraordinary show. I’m so very impressed with both Mara and Quintavious, but they are both so very young yet, and I think they should both give their voice more time to develop. I wouldn ‘t think this would be the last we’ll hear about them if they go home tonight by chance. Miquel is certainly a very talented young man, but not one of my favs. His performance last night was unfortunately rather forgettable. I feel he has tons of potential, and may be even more marketable than Emily, and selling tons of records. Blue Journey facinates me, but I think they need show even more creativity and dancing. They sure are quite unique.

  4. Blue Journey is just okay. As dancers, they are average so I honestly do not know how they made it this far.

Miguel needed a bigger song and I feel he was set up to be let down. I had a feeling this would happen…

Not a fan of Emily West. No marketability there whatsoever.

Acro Army – meh!! Admire their athletics but not my thing.

    I LOVE all the magicians.

  6. Most of my favorites were selected to go through to the top 6 next week, so I’m very happy. I love the magician, and was very happy that Sons of Serendip are going to be in the competition. I also love Miguel, and was surprised today to see that on the on-line polls, he was usually somewhere in the lower part.

MCL, I’m curious about what you don’t like about Emily. You obviously know much more about this area than I do. I have read some of her past history and see that she once recorded a duet with Keith Urban. Even though I like her voice, I am hoping that she doesn’t win.

I also really like Quintavious, but would rather see the magician win, I think.

  7. Louise and Anita – boy, I was cranky last night. That was such an abrupt, apathetic comment on my part. I apologize for this.

Okay – re Emily, she is a very gifted singer but, honestly, she is no better or worse than so many other singers we have seen on these shows. However, on vocal talent alone – she owns that stage. I am just not sure where she will fit in in today’s music scene.

Miguel, on the other hand, is another story. He has all the goods. He was stuck with a horrible sing choice so someone missed the boat advising him to perform this song choice. I would love to see this singer perform without all the hoopla behind him. He doesn’t need it.

I still contend that the Blue Journey duo are average dancers. There is a stiffness about them when they move. Not fluidity there whatsoever.

Quntavious I love but I think this kid needs to ground himself. He has a pretty cocky demeanor and must learn to tone it down.

Sons Of Serendip are in class of their own but can they perform a anything upbeat?

In the end, I would love to see a magician win this thing. The time is NOW!!

  8. Rosanne-Thanks for your response! I too feel Miguel is quite a bit more marketable than Emily. With the right guidance, he could be a huge star. The young girls seem to love him! I do think there may be a place for Emily also. Perhaps the Josh Groban type route, or Pop, R&B? I know she’s got a Country music past, but it seems that she wants to steer clear of that path now. Her voice is so stunning, and it would be a shame if she couldn’t become very successful somewhere. I love Mat’s magic tricks. He’s definately the best one they’ve had this year. It would be awesome to see a magician win this year!

  9. Anita – very good comments and I agree with all of your assessments. Deep down, I would love to see a magician win this. Everyone in the Top 6 will be very, very successful but maybe, as Howard said, the singers will cancel each other out and a magician will win. Matt must have a huge following because I thought all the magic acts in the Top 12 were phenomenal.

  10. I agree with you about the magicians being phenomenal. Usually, I am not that crazy about magicians, but the three this year were wonderful. They all amazed me, but I think people are really drawn to Matt Franco’s personality. I’d love to see him win.

I also agree with your assessment of Quintavious. He’s quite a talented and cute kid, but there is just a tiny bit of cockiness to him too.

And as far as Emily goes, I much preferred her the first time I heard her. She sounded a bit like Patsy Cline and I thought she was terrific. Now that she is veering away from country, she has a nice voice, but I probably wouldn’t buy her music. And I’m honestly not a fan of country music, but there are a few artists l like because of their distinct voices–Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson, for example.

I do think Miguel is extremely likable and very talented, but I have my doubts about whether he can win.

I have loved Sons of Serendip from the beginning and I would buy their music, but I doubt if they will win either.

Acroarmy is amazing but too scary for my tastes. My daughter was a gymnast and I know how hard that is on a young body.

I do agree that the last 12 acts this season were really great!
