Vocal Masterclass Discussion For The Voice Season Six: The Top 8 Live Show

The Voice is rolling to a strong end and a very diverse group of singers still remain in this competition.

I know I may be in he minority here but I thought Bria Kelly’s elimination was very unfortunate. She is an artistic, blues- infused gem and I absolutely love her. I think that some of the song choices were ill – inspired and contributed to her elimination.

However, I have no doubt that she will be a star someday. I wish, however, that The Voice’s platform could have given her the boost she needed rather than hinder and hide her innate talent.

So, on with the show we go. So much talent still left on that stage. Who will win? Who will be next to go?

The Voice…I was a little under whelmed.

DWTS…predictable! But the guest judge! I thought Len was going to backhand her away from the table! Maks…hilarious!!!

  3. I really disliked the guest judge on DWTS tonight. Also don’t think that Maks and Meryl should be in the bottom!!!

I agree Louise! I loved Maks comment to her!!!

MCL…yeah! I will be glad when idol and the voice are over! I think I am ready for AGT, at least when it comes on that will be the only reality show that I will be watching!!!

  5. Bates Motel is the way to go. Outstanding show. Complex characters, perfect casting, mystery and plot twist with acting as good as I’ve seen. Better in every aspect than most movies, much less a TV series. Season II just ended so look for it in reruns.

DWTS, Hated to see Danika go this week but I think they had the wacky judge to help them reshuffle the deck for reality show excitement. Max and Meryl were the best on the night so you know they were messing with us. Derek and Amy had two issues with the stool prop but no points deduction. They recovered well from them and I’m not sure if they count off for prop problems or not. The tiny off balance moment that Sharna had after being upside down for so long in the group dance should not have been mentioned. That should have earn 4-10s.

I know I watched the Voice but the details elude me. Oh yeah, I couldn’t understand the country girl, Jake had a cold, Kat was ok but the song wasn’t, Josh was fair on one of my favorite songs but I wouldn’t buy a copy of it, ditto Sisandra except that she had to perform in front of her mother, who strictly disapproves of her singing secular music, for the first time in her LIFE, and the pop girl had a pretty poor night. Delvin was the best of the night. I think that’s all of them. And they now have a lip syncing J-Lo type and a replacement for Cee-Lo to join in the fun at the judges table. I am very excited…

  6. PS Maks comment was spot on. Didn’t someone tell her to shut up near the beginning of the show?

  7. So glad to see that Vonnie and Gene also agreed with Maks comment to the guest judge. She was obnoxious!!!

Gene…lol, Yes! Bruno told her to shut up!

Yes! The Amy for the win has taken flight! Charlie was deducted points when he dropped the cane! Derek is brilliant, he is smoke and mirrors with Amy this year; he gives us the illusion that she is dancing a lot more than she actually is!

I was sad to see Danika go, after last week it should have been James!

Louise! Maks was hilarious, he said out loud what I am sure all of the others were saying under their breath!

The DWTS Fan pages were lit up like the Rockafeller Christmas tree! Mrs’ Awiggins couldn’t keep up!!! 😉

i LOVED kat’s performance. it is the first time i’ve really connected to a performance by her and i may actually download it.

i love delvin but i thought his singing was better during practice.

sisaundra i think is absolutely magnificent, magic: her look, her power, her sound. but i am not sure that she is current.

i wondered why they were adding all that extra ‘filler’. why not let the contestants sing two songs or give us just an hour.

i felt a little funny with blake singing that love song with one of his team members from season two. i didn’t remember her from adam, who on earth was she? did she make any kind of splash in season two? normally a song like that, the two people would be looking at each other and selling the song as a love song. here they weren’t looking at each other (which i’m glad they didn’t). i think the words were great (the only thing i don’t want to take off of you are my eyes) (paraphrased), but the whole thing was not comfortable for me.

  10. ohhh….and…..they’re getting rid of *three* tonight!!!??? that is crazy!! especially singing only one song. 😦 somehow that seems like mismanagement. they should be promoting these people, not booting them.

  11. I had never heard of Abby Miller or her realty TV show before last night, but my instinct was not to like her after some of her comments. However, I just read comments from the DWTS facebook page, and apparently lots of people knew about her from her show and greatly dislike her. As a matter of fact, a reporter from a nearby television station went to Hollywood and did behind-the-scenes interviews with everyone after the show last night. Derek Hough said that none of the professional dancers approve of her teaching methods. Too bad she was a guest judge!!!

  12. i just read louise’s comment about who the female guest judge was on dwts.i’m not watching dwts, so i’m wondering what maks said to this female judge? although i’ve never watched the show she is on i am familiar enough with her that i now understand why all the discussion. i wish i had recorded the show. 🙂 my impression of the show she is on is that there is a lot of screaming, crying, and bullying. she justifies it because she says her people win competitions. i’ve not watched her show because i’m not into screaming, crying, bullying, and fighting. but i still want to know what maks said to her. 🙂

  16. Gene…I noticed Audra (?) Blake’s girl too was having trouble with enunciation with that song! Sounded like she was suppressing her S’s and they came out sounding more like an impediment.

I liked Delvin last night too…but for the first time he sounded so technical, like a Broadway performance!!!

Like I said I was very underwhelmed last night…

hunter…Yikes! Three does go home! Wonder if they will do the instant save tonight? I wonder also why they had guest performers when they could have had each contestant do two songs???

Gosh if I had to pick three to send home…Dun, Dun, Duunnn! I don’t know! All that I know is I would like to see Sisaundra win the whole thing! I didn’t like her song last night but I like her voice and I think she is a classy lady!

  17. I think Blake must be disappointed. Of his three contestants, Jake was the one who I thought would not make it, but he was the only one who did. I also could not understand anything that Audra was singing. Unfortunate.

And, Vonnie, thanks for the DWTS link. I’ll check it out.

  18. it’s interesting…jake talked about the ‘little people’ but no one has come down on him. and he said it on the show, not in an interview. i cringed when he said it but i recognized that that is ‘just jake’.
