We are almost there folks! One more week of preliminary auditions before the cast and crew head off to Hollywood for the most gruelling part of these American Idol auditions.

This week, the judges audition singers in Salt Lake City, Wednesday, Jan. 29 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT); and Omaha, Thursday, Jan. 30 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

Apparently, the Salt Lake City talent is the best yet if one is to believe the closing promo after last week’s Thursday show. Is there another David Archuleta lurking in the wings? He would have to be something special because David was one of the best vocal talents ever to grace the American Idol stage.

And, after hearing the singers in the Detroit auditions last week, this week’s crop of singers have some mighty shoes to fill. The talent in Detroit was through the roof. I pretty much was in love with all the singers.

So, I am very excited for this week’s show. As always, the show begins at 8:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday on Fox.

Comments are open. Come on in!!

  1. I missed the Detroit show because my DVR only recorded the Thursday night show. Sigh.

  2. The SLC auditions were wonderful. There’s some promising talent from that city. I was so pleased that David was a part of the AI quiz! This new “chamber” they have on the show is so silly to me, though. I absolutely love the new judging dream team! The three of them have such amazing chemistry. I think Jennifer is an even better judge than she was the last time, and also Keith. To me, Harry is fantastic new addition to the team. AND there’s no bickering back and forth, no drama!

  4. Who was that gorgeous boy who sang Stand By Me? I’m no expert but he reminded me do David A. And Paula James, who sang Etta James? I hope they let her mom meet HCJr, but kept it low key. That is the first audition clip ever that made me cry, and I cry at everything, including every St. Jude’s and ASPCA commercial.

    A couple of live notes:
BTW, every time Keith shakes his shoulder and cocks his head sidewise with that come hither look, I melt. I might even listen to his music, or watch him play.

And is Ryan Seacrest the most genuine unaffected emcee ever? He truly loves his job. He appears truly elated and sad for people. I can’t imagine sustaining that much emotional energy all day. Every time, he appears to me that he feels like the luckiest man with the best job.
