And the award shows keep on coming! Ya gotta love this time of year. One awards show after another – a fantastic way to chase away these very cold, winter blues.
The Grammy Awards show will be televised live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 26th at 8:00 PM on CBS.
A list of all the Nominees are available on the official Grammy awards site.
And, if you are my age, then you will barely recognize anyone. Buried in there are two of my favorite performers, Michael Buble and Jazz artist, Dave Koz. Methinks hell will freeze over if the Grammy committee ever invites these talented artists to perform on their show.
Additionally, a list of the performers and presenters are also available on Grammy.Com. Once again, it is a lacklustre list in my opinion. Is it just me, or is this list a rehash of last year’s show?
I will keep my fingers crossed that Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake take all the awards – these are the only singers to whom I can remotely relate! As well, as The Buble and The Koz.
The only bright spot is that The Beatles will receive a lifetime achievement award and Carole King was honored on January 24th with the 2014 MusiCares Person of the Year.
So, there is a glimmer of light for those of you – like me – who are having problems transitioning to this new age of music and the new, but not Improved, version of LIVE television – and I use the word live loosely. Very loosely.
For the Madonna fans, the legendary singer is set to dazzle on Sunday, so that’s something, even if she is not one of my personal favorites.
So there you have it! Another year of music or, what one perceives as music, up for celebration and festivity. Either way, I am tuning in – maybe my cynical old self will be presently surprised. Maybe. Doesn’t hurt to try, does it?
What about you? Will you be tuning in? How do you feel about the nominees, performers and presenters’ lists? Are you, like me, a tad lost or disappointed?
I have always enjoyed the Grammy Awards and was shocked to hear that Kanye West has more Grammies (over 20) than the Beatles, Bee Gees, and Bob Dylan combined. It saddens me when Rap is considered singing. I know some disagree, but it is oral poetry, not singing. Oh, I hope Madonna sings live.

Yes, Kariann. I totally agree. Which is why it is painful to watch this show. Rap is not music. Like you said, it is oral poetry. I don’t get it.
Now let’s see if Madonna sings live. :):)

What a ridiculous show!! Disgusting actually! Loved John Legend, Carole King and Sara. And, for some strange worrisome reason – Metallica. Haha

Yes, I loved Keith’s hairdo. See, this is what it has come to. Commenting on hairdos in a positive way and dissing the music. What a world!

Is it just me? I really couldn’t hear the singers voices all that well, at least could not make out the words. The music was overwhelming. Love listening to Lang Lang but thought the duet with Metallica was – well – just strange. Did enjoy Sara B and Carole King a lot. Didn’t recognize Keith Urban at first, lol.

Awestruck…I thought it was just me! I had trouble understanding Paul when he sang, but just thought it was my old ears!!! Lol
I did read that Adele and Phil Collins are writting together, he came out of retirement to work with her!! So excited

Vonnie – our OLD ears, lol. I am happy to hear Phil Collins is working with Adele. He was one of my favorites. Didn’t know he had retired, but that would explain why there has been nothing new from him in a while… I love Adele too!

Hi Everyone! I don’t usually watch the Grammys much anymore, but I did watch this year’s. There really were some great performances. My fav was Hunter Hayes. Deffinaltely a highlight! What a remarkable song he wrote. It was also the best I’ve ever heard him sing. He sang with such passion! To me, it was the performance of the night! Did anyone else like it?

Mandisa from Season 5 of AI won two Grammy Awards this year! One for Album of the Year for Overcomer, and also Christian song of the Year for her single Overcomer. She’s really made a name for herself in Christian Music through the years. Almosst every single of her’s has become Number 1! I’m hoping that AI will FINALLY have her on as a guest this year!
