Vocal Masterclass Discussion For Season 5 Of The Voice: The Top 5

Here we go!

The Top 5 are set to entertain us on NBC’s The Voice Season 5 on Monday at 8:00 PM.

The show will deviate from their two-hour format in favor of one hour (thank you!) in order to make room for the return of the very popular show, The Sing-Off.

NBC is really on a role this season aren’t they? Music shows galore!

Hey, I’m not complaining but, personally, I am more attracted to the Holiday event shows, such as last week’s Sound Of Music Live and the upcoming Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble Christmas specials on the next two consecutive Wednesdays.

But, with only two shows remaining on The Voice, we are close to crowning another winner.

One of my favorites, Matthew Schuyler was eliminated last week and that was such a shame. He has such enormous star power. However, he was given a strong platform to jump start his career and I wish him the very best. I will be following him closely.

Performing tonight are:

Team Adam
James Wolpert
Tessanne Chin
Will Champlin

Team Cee Lo

All singers were eliminated. Too bad.

Team Christina
Jacquie Lee<

Team Blake
Cole Vosbury

The Results Show will air on Tuesday, December 10th from 9:00 – 10:00 PM

Best of luck to all the singers. Comment away!

  1. Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well & had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am way way way way behind the curve here – I watched a couple of my DVRed episodes at the beginning of the season & have totally fallen out of the loop since then. I was going to try to ignore the entire process until I could catch up but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Plus I wanted to take the opportunity to say hello to everyone.

I am glad to see that James Wolpert is still in the group although I just read his Wikipedia entry (yes, he has a Wikipedia entry already) & he was in the bottom two but was saved by Twitter (apparently).

So I have nothing to say about any of the singing at this point, just glad that you are still doing what you do so well, Rosanne!!

  2. Hi Darlene,
It’s good to see your post and I hope you have a great holiday season.

This season of the Voice hasn’t delivered a new superstar but the group as a whole has been pretty well matched. Each night has been entertaining at least and no one has been boring or stayed on too long beyond their expiration date. Matthew Schuler’s “Hallelujah” and Tessanne Chin’s “Bridge over Troubled Water” have been two of the strongest performances of the season. Personally, I like Jacquie Lee who is young and has a few flaws to work out but she I think she could make a name for herself in the future. I liked her “Back to Black,” “Stompa” She has had a few interesting performances of songs that weren’t particularly well suited to her but it was still fun to watch her pour out everything she had into the performance.

Tessanne reminded everyone that she is in the competition last night and has placed herself at number one on the iTunes chart with one of the best performances of the season. I expected to see sort of a “knockout round” between Jacquie vs Tessanne and James vs Will with Cole unopposed last night but I don’t think it worked out that way. It appears that Tessanne will move into first place this week, followed by Jackie and then Will with James and Cole bringing up the bottom two. I think we saw the last of the extremely unfair Twitter instant save last week, so my guess is that James or possibly Cole will go home this week.

    MCL,
I’m looking forward to the Kelly Clarkson Christmas Special that you mentioned above. She will have Trisha Yearwood and Reba McIntire as guest. Both appear on her Christmas album that you wrote about a few weeks back, so I assume the show will closely parallel the album.

  3. Hi Gene. I think I will do what I sometimes do at this point is just accept that I should start at the end (most recent) & work backwards :)!! Thanks for your thoughts! Hope that your holiday season is going well!!

  4. That sounds like a great approach to watching this type of show Darlene! I may give it a try.
We’re getting ready for the family Christmas party at our house on Saturday but I’m trying to keep up with my shows as well. If I counted correctly, we have a dozen kids under 6 this year so it should be lively. Life is good.
