Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

Actually I was surprised to see I had an episode recorded last night, so I watched it after DWTS. Christina Milian, the co host from The Voice is dancing with Mark Ballas on DWTS this season. I don’t know if she has left The Voice or will be back when the live shows begin. BTW, I got to see last year’s winner of the coveted mirror ball trophy, Kellie Pickler, performing in a club downtown about a month ago. She wasn’t bad in that environment and was very generous with her fans. Good show. “Grace Potter and the Nocturnals” tomorrow night; can’t wait.
I thought The Voice got off to s strong start this season, but I’m not in love with any of them yet. I liked the first and second girls, the preacher’s son and older lady who had sung backup for Gloria Estefan. She may be the best of the former backing vocalist they have had so far, although I am fond of Amanda Brown from last season.
From the “What was he thinking” file, apparently Cee Lo is a heavy drinker. His head looked like he had passed out in a novice tattoo artist chair. Christina seems to have completed her course at charm school, or was shamed by how sweet and genuine Shakira was last season and upped her game. She seemed like a new woman last night.
I’m getting a little too much of the judges in the mix at this point. I hope they have a few changes this year so it doesn’t drag out like past seasons.

I just have a hard time connecting with any of the singers and investing time in how they progress throughout the show.
I still think there are too many singers to sort through and the Steal and Knock Out features didn’t make a difference. Just added more confusion.
The idea was good but, in my mind, didn’t help their cause.
However, The Voice is a well-oiled machine. Have to give credit where credit is due. Mark Burnett did a wonderful job visualizing the show. Now he just needs to clean it up a little

I just watched tonight’s episode of The Voice and also last night’s episode and was thoroughly entertained. Look forward to following these performers throughout the season.

I thought the second night was even better than the first. I think they are spending too much time with back stories at this stage of the game. At least half of these contestants will be cut in the next round so having the full bio before each performance and then repeating most of it for the judges, who seem to already know it, is just too much.
I tend to shut out the overflow of information, which may be why The Voice has had a hard time building the fan loyalty with their contestants in the same way that American Idol has been able to do over the years.
I am glad they don’t do the delusional singer shtick that Idol can’t leave behind and I like the broader range of singers that The Voice features. If they would tighten up the audition round a little and spend a little more time with the top ten, I don’t care what they do in between.
I still believe that Danielle Bradberry will break the curse of the disappearing Voice winner phenomena. She is signed with Big Machine Records, which is a very innovative small label and right where I would want to be if I were a young artist. After all, it’s the house that Taylor Swift built.

Thoroughly enjoyed The Voice last night. I would suggest one thing to the judges and editors of the show – maybe the judges should refrain from saying “you can win this contest! ” to all the singers. Lol.
I really liked Austin and Tessanne. I fear for Tessane though. Just like the back-up singer for MJ last year, she’s far too polished and professional. Voters like to “discover” someone and help make their career. Right, MCL?

Right you are, Janey. I don’t mind that singers come with an experienced background because, for me, I love to hear this level of excellence that comes from a wealth of opportunities. Just don’t shove it in my face is all I ask! Ha!
And yet, last season, Danielle Bradbury was the perfect winner. No experience whatsoever. She came to The Voice packed with an amazing vocal gift and adorable, engaging personality. That is why she won.

Gene – right you are! Too much information on this show. Information overload! I can’t stand it.
And all these long segments attached to singers that we will barely see again makes this show tedious. Just stop with the backstage stuff after each Blind Audition and move on to the next singer. Gah – what a tedious viewing experience.
Love this show but it needs to be streamlined.

You may a lot of sense about too much information. That is why I am really appreciating only one night of Dancing with the Stars this season. The elimination shows from previous years were a total waste of time.
