Adam Lambert Talks Angie Miller, Possible Judging Gig And More

I happened upon this video of Adam Lambert on this fine Sunday afternoon. He was interviewed after his amazing duo with Top 3 American Idol Season 3 Finalist, Angie Miller.

The first impression I discerned while listening to and watching him speak was how absolutely grounded he appears to be while speaking about a variety of topics.

There is no pretence here – he feels genuine and real and, even better, his authenticity comes with an intelligent and focused approach to his singing career.

This video leaves nothing open to misinterpretation. He wants to be a judge on American Idol and the Fox honchos would be insane if they didn’t snatch him up.

For, what is the only thing American Idol can claim that the other Reality Singing Competitions cannot?

Answer: American Idol has discovered bona fide stars that remain on the viewers’ radar long after the show dims its lights at the end of each season.

Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, David Archuleta, Jason Castro, Adam Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jessica Sanchez, DeAndre Brackensick, Phillip Phillips, Angie Miller, Candice Glover, who else am I missing? The list is endless.

And so many of these singers could easily and, more important, intuitively lend their expertise to the judging panel. They’ve all been there, done that – Adam points this out very well in the video.

And, perhaps, at different points in the season, they could mentor and perform with the finalists. The possibilities are endless. Endless!

Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler. She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8. In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman. In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins. In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright. In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins. Under Rosanne Simunovic’s direction, the Timmins Youth Singers and the Timmins Concert Singers have been featured in numerous choral festivals and performing opportunities outside of Timmins.     Adam would be a great judge! He already proved that when he was a mentor a couple of years ago. He was blunt but kind, and he honed in on exactly what each contestant needed to do to improve his or her performance (although some of them didn’t follow his advice and it was to their detriment). I think a panel of judges made up of former contestants would go a long way toward giving Idol a sense of family and thus make it more appealing for the viewers.

    Murly, I so agree. Adam is candid, charming and eloquent. He knows the Idol game and he could help contestants grow and he awesome to listen to. Also an occasional Adam performance would be to die for.

    Gahhh, I’m a big time Glambert so I’m slightly biased where this is concerned. But he is very articulate, opinionated, tactful and charismatic. I think those are qualities that an interesting and effective judge should have. Not everyone is a fan of his vocal stylings but any objective-minded person will admit that he has incredible technical skills. Always helpful on a judging panel, though being able to communicate them effectively is also important. I think he’d be able to :).

    I hope American Idol hire alumni as judges. It would be innovative. Also, they would focus on the singers in the competition in the right way. Obviously the big name judges are not bringing in the ratings so it’s time to take another road.

    Alumni as judges, really great, innovative and diverse singers, a wide range of copyright-free songs and the show would be back on track. That’s what I feel so…

    I’m always so heartened when I see/hear Adam speak. Adam is so well spoken and down to earth. Doesn’t he seem like one of the kindest souls out there? I don’t think it is put on or an affectation. I really hope he becomes a judge or regular mentor. I think he has a gift for couching criticism in the positive. Perhaps he has the soul of a teacher.

    Jessica – I have always loved Adam but, in recent months, have gained even more respect for him and an artist and as a person. He is a genuine, caring soul and, yet, his honesty is so refreshing and candid. I love that about him
