About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

That was some unbelievable live television tonight when Len threw his tantrum!!! Personally, I thought the dancers were spectacular. I am so, so impressed with Kellie Pickler. As I’ve said before, she was not at all a favorite of mine when she was on American Idol, but I have completely changed my mind about her as a person and as a very talented dancer. I would love to see her win.

Yes, MCL, it was a real tantrum! The other two judges loved Kellie and Derek’s dance and gave them 10’s. Len ranted about their dance and gave them only a 7.

I’ve always liked Kellie and she is my favorite this year in DWTS, but I think Len was largely correct. Her performance was outstanding but it looked like it lacked a lot of the basic elements of the pasodoble to my untrained eye.
Len’s tantrum looked real enough and Carrie Ann’s reaction to him seemed genuine but in the back of my mind I thought it may have been a way of rewarding Kellie for the excellent performance (the two 10s) while at the same time punishing her for not touching all of the bases (Len’s 7). Carrie Ann is will usually count off for technical issues, yet she gave them a 10 as well as a hug, so I’m not sure what to make of it. It doesn’t seem fair to punish the contestant when they are under the direction of two professional dancers, but what else can you do?
Kellie had the line of the night and it went almost un-noticed. Right after Len insulted Bruno with regard to where his voice may be emanating from and Carrie Ann gasp in disbelief at Len’s remark, Kellie said “on that note” and begins to walk toward the stairs. It was subtle but hilarious at the same time.
You may want to watch her first dance before watching this one because Derek linked the theme of the two dances together in a way that I don’t recall being done before. It was well done.

How did you like Derek’s reprise of the old Fred Astaire dancing on the ceiling routine? I thought he and his partner did an excellent job of inventive choreography to bring new life to this old trick.
The voters got it right again this week but I was surprised to see Kellie in the bottom three. Jacoby doesn’t really belong there either.
Next week the fairness issue with Zendaya will come to a head when she does a Hip Hop dance routine. It’s debatable if it’s fair for her to compete in a ballroom dance contest but there is no question that she shouldn’t be doing this style of dance given that is what she does for a living. I think her Salsa this week bordered on the type of dancing she does at Disney, but this one leaves no doubt.

You have a very good eye if you could find parts of the pasa dobla missing in Kellie and Derek’s dance. To my untrained eye, it looked wonderful!
Personally, I think the show placed Derek and Kellie in the “in jeopardy” category just to create some drama for last night’s show. It seemed really obvious that Sean would be eliminated and I guess they took advantage of Len’s tantrum to cause some tension with the results show. I think they did the same with Jacoby because when they announced that Sean was being eliminated, they noted that they were not necessarily the bottom two couples. I figure that Ingo had to be the bottom two.
