That’s one confused Top 4 in that picture. And color Ryan confused as well. In fact, we are all confused here as we enter yet another Top 4 week with Amber, Angie, Candice and Kree.
The Save option was not used – ever – this season so Idol was faced with an extra week to fiddle with. What to do? What to do? The four ladies were given the opportunity to sing once again, with votes from last week to be carried over to this week’s voting tally.
Therefore, these talented ladies will perform two more songs this week, selected from the Standards and 2013 Song Catalogue.
It should be a very interesting show – the standard classics fully allow the singers to just sing and connect. There are no tricks here – just a beautiful opportunity to deliver exquisite vocals and meaningful lyrics with authenticity.
And, with an opportunity to showcase their 2013 musical relevancy , the singers can show two sides to their artistry – old school and new school. It’s a win-win situation for both the singers and the audience. Good call, Idol.
Best of luck to these gals – and I cannot wait to see how mentor, Harry Connick Jr., works his magic on them. He is very skilled and sharp and I know the performances are going to be vastly improved under his guidance.
Comment away! I am waiting! 🙂
Glad to hear Harry Connick Jr. Will be there 🙂 Still think they should have used the Save on Janell since it was the last chance to use it. Fans would have enjoyed it and it wouldn’t have hurt anything, unless they were afraid of their “favorites” being challenged.

That was really wrong of them not to save Janelle. My goodness, that girl has one gorgeous voice, and sooo creative with her song arrangements. I feel she’s done better on the show than Scotty, Lauren, or Skylar in seasons past. I even bought some of her songs on ITunes. So very beautiful, and her voice brings me to tears. She sang You Keep Me Hangin’ On on Michael and Kelly the other day, and they thought it was wrong of them not to save her to. She should sing this on the Idols Tour.

Anita but but Janelle was not Amber and the save had to be used for Amber. I would bet the Farm that Amber was the lowest vote getter last week, so she gets a do-over in hopes she pulls ahead of Candice. Candice will be highly criticized and Amber highly praised.
Yes in fairness Janelle should have been saved. But alas when is fairness the way Idol operates?
I personally really liked Janelle. Loved her personality and how she performed.
Here’s hoping my hometown girl Angie can have another great night and stay in this to win this!!

It was Candice’s night! That gal is unbelievable! What a gorgeous voice. Angie seems to have lost a little bit of her sparkle, but did well. Kree is a much stronger singer than what we saw tonight. Time for Amber to go home. She would be wise to get some vocal lessons.

Anita,
Here is something that I think you will like. Janelle Arthur singing Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock” accompanied on guitar by her uncle. Very nice.
I don’t really believe in the concept of the judges save except in the case of a serious technical glitch that causes a major error in the voting results. I don’t like the sing for your life and the judges acting like they are wrestling with making a decision. The voters have spoken. I do miss Janelle though. I have serious doubts about how fair the song choice and theme choices were with regard to her, but that’s the Idol game and it isn’t likely to change.
