Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

There have been celebrity contestants in the past who had some kind of previous dance experience. My sense is that if they haven’t done any ballroom dancing, then it’s fair for them to be on the show. It does give them an advantage, however I have seen celebrities who never danced in their lives come out with natural rhythm and a real flair for ballroom.
As far as that info about Zendaya and Kellie being neck and neck for the win, The Examiner is forgetting about Jacoby Jones. Football players have a long history of doing very well on this show. They come with a built-in huge fan base and their athleticism, strength and competitive nature makes them ideal for ballroom dancing. Jacoby has charisma on the dance floor, a natural rhythm and grace and a star quality that makes him light up the place. If you get a chance, check out the jive he did tonight with his pro partner Karina. It was unbelievable! Len called him out for his footwork, but I guarantee that the audience was just spellbound watching an energetic jive that had everything! Great entertainment, fun to watch and just a joy! This guy isn’t going anywhere.
I can see the final three being Jacoby, Zendaya and Kellie. I think Jacoby will only get better and it’s not necessarily the best technical dancer that wins. Zendaya does have an advantage with her dancing background and youth. Kellie seems to be another natural dancer. But they are going to have some serious competition from Jacoby.
Jacoby said in his rehearsal video before the dance, that he wanted to get some 9 scores from the judges and the encore dance on the results show. He got two 9’s and an 8 from Len who told him to work on his footwork. The judges broke out their 10 paddles for Zendaya’s dance tonight. She came up one point shy of a perfect score with a 29! She is clearly a favorite of the judges. There are many times when we have a celebrity who does have an advantage, but that doesn’t mean they are guaranteed a win.

Nice comments, Mindy. Jacoby was quite impressive last night, and I agree that Zendaya, Kellie, and Jacoby are by far the best dancers left. I have to admit that I’m really pulling for a Kellie win, but realize that she has some stiff competition in the other two. I loved Derek’s choreography last night. In my opinion, his choreography is always the most original each week. I always think of him as a young Fred Astaire!
It was quite enjoyable to me having Maks back last night. I love watching him dance even though his treatment of his partners has been controversial.
And Sean stepped up his performance a bit last night although I cannot imagine that he’ll ever be good enough to get to the finals. I personally think that DL’s dance was the worst last night, even though I hate to criticize him because I believe he is trying. It seemed to me that he was “walking” through the tango instead of dancing.

I loved seeing Maks back last night. The show just doesn’t seem the same without him. I actually think that it was a good idea to have these pros work with the contestants. I think it seemed to help most of them.
Sean did his best dance so far and it was surprising to me. I don’t see him getting to the finals and don’t think he will be as good as Zendaya, Kellie or Jacoby. However, this was a decent quickstep.
I agree that DL was the weakest last night. Some people just can’t dance no matter what. He didn’t really do a tango, more like stomping all over the place and looking intense. His attitude seems better and he doesn’t seem to be taking the judges comments so personally. However I think it’s time for him to go. Andy and Victor should soon follow. It’s a very weak group of guys this season.
I was checking out MJ’s blog last night and reading the comments. It seems that there is a good deal of backlash against Zendaya for being a ringer and also being too young. However, she is getting the votes.
Derek has always been brilliant with the choreography. He senses that Kellie is someone who can handle it so he will create challenging steps for their dances. I think they certainly have a good shot at winning this season. But I feel that Jacoby is going to a formidable competitor.

I think Zendaya SHOULD win and why not? This show has had dancers before that won the whole thing. Why all of a sudden this is an issue? She’s Clearly the best dancer and she’s a little sweet role model for young ones who might be interested in learning to Ballroom Dance. Not only that, but Anna Trebunskya was very complimentary about her work ethic and her struggle with learning ballroom. This isn’t easy stuff for a hip hop dancer. In fact on shows like So You Think You Can Dance the hip hop dancers have the worst time trying to learn Ballroom.
