Golden Globes Set To Air On Sunday, January 13th on NBC

20130113-134739.jpg Let the Award Show Season begin. Tonight, the 70th Golden Globes, precursor to the Academy Award Show, is set to enter your living rooms on NBC at 8:00 P.M. Eastern.

However, unlike the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes also honor television artists as well as those from the silver screen.

I missed the People’s Choice Awards last week – Wednesday seemed an odd day for this show to air – so I was remiss in adding a blog topic about this show. My apologies.

Set to co-host the show this evening are the hilarious duo, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

The extremely talented actress, Jodi Foster, is scheduled to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award for her outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

The nominations in every field are extremely competitive. There have been many exceptional performances this season and so this should make for a very exciting night of entertainment.

Will you be watching the show? Let us know who you are rooting for in the comments section. Happy Golden Globes everyone!

  1. Hi MCL! Hope you had a great holiday season. I don’t get out to a lot of movies & I don’t watch a lot of TV these days. But I did see “Lincoln”. Absolutely amazing. I would fall off my chair & CPR would have to be administered if Daniel Day-Lewis didn’t sweep every award that there is this season. I still want to see “Zero Dark Thirty”. “Amour” looks great too. Thanks!!

  2. Happy New Year, Darlene. Yes, I heard that Daniel Day Lewis was amazing in Lincoln. I must see this movie. I also want to see Zero Dark Thirty. I did see Flight and Denzel Washington was exceptional in his role.

I am hoping that Smash does well tonight- I love Katharine McPhee and thought the first season of this TV Musical Drama was excellent.

  3. I thought the Golden Globe Awards were quite enjoyable. I really like Ben Affleck and was happy he won. The Oscar committee didn’t honor Ben with a Director’s nomination; too bad about that. I won’t join in the conversation about Jodi Foster, other than to say she’s a terrific actress and respected in the industry. Tina and Amy did a good job hosting, while Tina had some GOOD advice for Taylor Swift. I hope she listens and takes some time for herself without a boyfriend!

Loved Adele and her voice. I hope she stays down-to-earth. She’s a very talented lady. No awards for Smash, but we can look forward to its return.

MCL, I did see Lincoln, and it’s quite a powerful movie. Daniel Day-Lewis should win every actor award as you (the viewer) believe he IS Lincoln. The big surprises will be with Best Director and Best Film. Lincoln should be viewed in a theater. I need to see Les Miz.

  4. KariAnn – I was confused over the selection of some of the winners. I can’t
explain how Adele won over some of the others. Strange. Not a fan here.

I was happy to see the support for Ben Affleck. How strange that he wasn’t nominated for an Oscar.

Like you, I was very disappointed that Smash didn’t win. That just seemed weird and dumb to me. However, I cannot wait for Season 2 to begin.
