About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

i’d found it interesting when the show about ‘thanksgiving’ was on that emblem 3 chose their ‘youth coaches’ or whatever they were rather than parents or something. after reading the article it would seem to me they didn’t want us to know that the parents were ‘famous’??

Wow !! Carly Just amazing !!
Tate? …. The Bon Jovi number …. in my opinion …. one of his lowest moments. I’m just not getting some of L.A.’s decisions. In fact after the cooment’s he and Simon made about if Cee Cee I wouldn’t be surprised if the audience didn’t fire back at them by putting Cee Cee ahead of him. I wouldn’t be surprised . I want her out but the judges have got watch it and not forget how those comments work.
Emblem 3, every week in my opinion they get better each week. They should stay away from the solo parts though and stick to singing together. I don’t see them as great singers though but I can see the viewing audience taking them to the end. I always enjoy them.
Diamond and 5th Harmony, for me I think it time for you to go

Well the only singers I enjoyed tonight were Carly and Diamond. And, of the two, Carly should win his thing hands down. This show is an absolute disgrace. The singing talent pales in comparison to The Voice.

MCL, I tend to agree with you. I know X-Factor has been renewed, but if it was canceled, I wouldn’t miss it at all. Yes, Carly is the potential winner and possible star. %th Harmony had pretty good performances. I still think they should have been a trio. I can see country radio playing some of Tate’s music, When I think about Amanda going home (from The Voice), I agree X-Factor is a disgrace.

It is a double elimination so I worry someone who doesn’t deserve it will go. On other blogs E3 is loathed (hello MJ’s). No idea why as I think they have the best chance of
commerical success. Simon is not doing them any favors with his song selection. Let them perform some originals which are radio friendly, hip, cool and now. IMO the finale should be Carly, Tate, E3 and Diamond. CeCe and Fifth Harmony should go. Fifth Harmony do not harmonize enough and it is like songs are broken into segments to give each solo voice a part?
The Voice is a joke!! The best voices have been voted off Amanda and Melanie. The remaining contestants are clones of other artists and not unique at all. Only Cassadee has any hope of commerical success and I find her voice grating. Nicholas is this years Josh, Trevin=Jermaine, Terry has a pretty clear tone of a age gone by. Foreigner and 80’s rock is dead and gone. Sad but true. IMO Xtina’s biatchiness towards Amanda and Melanie were just blatant attacks at Adam. Sad but voters did not see through her manipulation and sent them home.

I don’t understand why Fifth Harmony gets LA pounding on them about no harmony…what about E3??? Why do they not need to sing harmony as well…individually they sound horrible, it is only when they “sing, not harmonize” together that they sound decent!!!
That said I am confident that they will make it to the semi finals.
I think the problem with LA and Tate is, LA doesn’t know any country songs, that may be why Simon told Tate to pick his own songs!!!

Carly is a great singer but, I wonder, LeAnn Rhimes started out with an awesome voice at a very young age too…then her voice changed!!!

Vonnie – Carly has wonderful vocal technique. If she stays true to her technical skills she will be just fine.
I am glad that LA is calling out Fifth Harmony for their lack of,well, harmony.
That has been my pet peeve for weeks regarding both groups – Emblem 3 as well. And even when they do sing solo they still sound pretty awful.
Last night was no better. Background vocal karaoke tracks? Uhm – I don’t think so. Does Simon think we are all deaf?

MCL…I wonder what type of help if any Fifth Harmony gets behind the scenes…with all of these girls singing solo prior to being put in a group, I’m sure they may not know how to harmonize!! They have very nice vocals though…
Emblem 3…they are getting to many passes for me, the thought that we need a boy band is beyond me!
I hope Carly stays as she is, she’s pretty Amazing!!! I hope that she and Tate are the final two!

When I first heard Tate I knew he’d go far, actually I thought that about L.A,’s guys but after seeing the kinds of productions that L.A. has let his folks put on has really disappointing. To me, other then Carly he had all the competitions best singers and now they are all gone except Tate. Great voices but their productions were awful. That has nothing to do with their talent. Thats hos productions. He let Jason Brock go on looking like a silly clown. He let Vino go on, knowing he had lost his confidence because of the song change. I mean heck … Vino consistently held 3rd place and then L.A. gives him this untried arrangement of”Loving Feeling” on top of that and it was such a bad decision that it moved Vino from 3 to all the way out ??? And then he turns around and starts messing with Tate with that Bon Jovi catastrophe. When someone has got a great act already you don;t start changing it. He is by far the most professional there and has never had negative feed back from any of the judges ever until last night. I’m really concerned that Tate will lose his spot tonight. Other then Carly … I think we’re going to see the leader board look like something we’re not expecting. If Cee Cee stays its going to tell us a great deal about who X-Factors over all viewers are. .

Great commentary as always from all of you. However, the only marketable talent up there is Carly. She is a phenomenon.
For me, Tate has lost the sparkle he had at the beginning of this season. He looks tired – almost like he can’t wait for this show to end.
I have no idea why ether group is still there. They are, well, not good. It’s ridiculous.

MCL. At this point in the competition, I can honestly say that there is only one artist I look forward to every week, and that’s Carly. She’s the only one that can surprise me with her vocal ability – in the same sense David A. did in season 7 of Idol. I tune in just to hear her as I did to see what David had to offer each week.

Have any of you listened to E3’s originals? Are they vocally technical perfect like Adam Lambert, Carly or David A. Umm no but they write songs I believe will be commerically successful.
Keaton solo and I really like his tone and he sings the least?
Sadly, you do not need a perfect voice to be successful in todays music biz. In
fact I think perfect vocal ability is a determent. David A hasn’t been successful and Adam Lambert only marginal so in the US while he does do much better International.
Haley was just dropped and she has an incredible voice and her cd fantastic.
To me it is a travesty that Simon has poured sugar syrup all over E3 and it doesn’t
suit them. They are not bubble gum pop.
Carly should win hands down. But what kind of music will they give her to sing?
Final 4 should be IMO Carly, Tate, E3 and Diamond.

Aubry – you raise some very valid points. And you are correct. You merely have to look good, carry a tune – sort of – and the marketing machine will do the rest. It is so incredibly sad that I want to scream.
David A. Is achieving success on his terms and I admire him for this. I think he could have been a huge star by now but did not want to compromise his standards. I admire him for this.
And there are many artists that feel as he does. David Cook is one. And you mentioned Haley. So many.
Also many of the artists who have benefited by collaborating with David Foster know that there is an audience that values quality above all else.

MCL, The fact that Brits new single shot to #1 was shocking to me. Seriously she doesn’t sing in it and her talking is run through a synch. What? Ke$ha’s new single shot to the top of the charts? She can’t sing at all IMO.
I was so sure David A would be a huge star. His control and tone are so so good. I loved David Cook on the show but have not enjoyed his cd’s. IMO Adam Lambert should be a mega star. He has an amazing voice. He can sing anything and everything , he has a great style/fashion sense and is a true performer. Yet he can’t get radio play in the US? So weird. He is hosting VH1’s Diva’s Dec 19th and I can’t wait for that.

Very glad E3, Carly and Tate made it through. Those watching can now hear the train wreck that is the hugely successful Ke$ha. WTF!! Heck CeCe sings way better than Ke$ha. Is a better performer than Ke$ha and is better looking than Ke$ha. Melanie’s performance was at least LIVE and not on multiple backing tracks. My bet is Ke$ha sells a million downloads of this crap and Melanie doesn’t sell and doesn’t get airplay.

MCL…I can definitely see Disney picking up Carly, and at her age that would be the best thing for her career. Then as she gets older she would be ready for the pop world…I can also see some major Broadway roles in her future! If nurtured and not pushed, she should enjoy a very long and succesful career!!!
Carly and Tate are already winners…I can’t wait to see what they do post X-Factor!!!

i so totally knew that simon would say to 5th harmony: you haven’t been in the bottom 2, we need you in the competition. that logic he didn’t use with vino who had never been as low as 5th harmony in the rankings.

I knew Simon & LA would team up to get rid of Diamond. But I was surprised that Demi didn’t team up with Brit. Unless the insider talk was Diamonds fans are most likey going to swing to Carly so they wanted her off.
Hunter, Vino was bussed hard. It was obvious someone just wanted Vino off the show. As Tate was back at #1 it seems many of Vino’s fans may have voted for Tate.

aubry, i know that some of vino’s fans who are from missouri went to tate. i would love if they all did because i want simon ‘defeated’. i’ve never had this kind of thinking before, but i just saw how blatant they (simon and company) were in getting rid of him.

XFactor really needs to come up with a different plan…it is too much like the Voice with the Judges being mentors!
I think they should still be put into groups but have mentors other than the judges…

Vonnie this is the same reason the “judges” got rid of Diamond in hopes her votes swing to Carly, in hopes this gives her a big enough boost to over take Tate. IMO of course. They know their viewers are not on the E3 train (so they will sign them anyway). But also IMO Simon does not want an older Country winner.

I agree…but even with thevjudges not being mentors or being mentors the manipulation is so evident on the shows!!!
We need a show with no judges!!! Only a host and mentors…have an audition process like Idol, then put them into groups have the public vote, have eliminations until we the voters get our top 24 then have them go to live shows with a host only…they sing, the host chats with them a few moments, we vote, yada yada!!

Vonnie, there is a problem with your plan as well. This problem is people who watch and power vote for these singing shows;
a) only like or seem to only like 1 type of singer a male White Guy With Guitar
b) they are older and from the middle of the country so they are not up to current music market and what is selling.
c) many others vote for the most terrible contestant to laugh at these shows and mess with the outcome
IMO the judges of these shows were kinda forced to try and sway the viewers after AI 1. If you rewatch AI one there were not the type of swaying going on. At that time viewers spanned age, gender and geographic areas and a “real” star was found.
2) In AI2 for reasons I do not understand the judges did not want Clay to win though he was largely the viewer fav.
3) In AI5 Daughtry was wanted but the massive voting block for Taylor nearly had the judges have a stroke. After this they became underhanded and manipulative with voters.
4) AI6 What the judges and PTB did to get Jason Castro off the show was blatent and so underhanded. Judging songs now sung, Vote don’t Vote yawning etc. Jason like Taylor had a highly organized voting machine. Even David A had forgotten a lyric that year and Brooke was allowed a do over. Jason hammered and some still believe he was pulled vs voted off.
5) AI8 IMO Adam was clearly the best pillar to post. But with sponsors not wanting an openly Gay winner, AT&T flew reps out to teach voters how to power vote. It worked and Kris won.
I could go on, but the Voice, America’s Got Talent and now Xfactor are being saddled with winners who have virtually no chance at commerical success. So now there is the battle of wills and wits between voters and judges. It is kinda commical and I understand it. Doesn’t make it right but the labels do not want to sink money into artist who will not bring a bang for their buck.

Votes needs to be limited…AI is a valid argument for that!
Success doesn’t always present it’s self the same way…many from idol, winners and others have went on to do well for them selves…these shows are a great platform for all who appear as contestants.
I have been hearing Phil Phillips’ “Home” everywhere, it is now Double Platinum and his album hasn’t been released yet!
I totally agree with you about the manipulation on these shows…I think each judge is equipped with a Chauffeur’s License…cause they ALL DRIVE BUSES!

Vonnie, I love P2 and Home is already heading towards double platinum. Many here and other places felt P2 could not sing. M J’s was worse. Just look at the comments. Phillips cd is out and has been for 2 weeks. I have it and I love it. Check it out!! Another song is already being played for a commerical. I said it then and I say it now P2 is going to one of the most successful idols. (I still love Deandre too but it doesn’t appear that he will be signed which is a shame)

So glad I could tell you!! Yep and I believe P2 has sold close to 200,000 in the 2 weeks it has been out. Home is everywhere and still moving up the charts. It is #2 on HAC and #10 on POP! Still has bullets moving ^ Phillip has been everywhere and some of his Christmas Song Covers have been on TV.
It was also announced that P2 will be opening for Matchbox 20 Feb 5th, 2013

Thanks so much for the clips of E3. To me they are not the greatest singers but then … most rockers are not singers at all, they generally just scream they way to the banks (like Steven Tyler and those guys. Those guys can’t sing a lick to me but they are still kicking butt all over the world)
I’m not a rocker nor would I myself buy cd’s of a group like E3. Not my type of thing but I must say, every time I see them perform I throughly enjoy them. I’ve said it many times here but I can see E3 being the next big boy band and after hearing those clips, I can really see it.
Not the greatest singers but in my opinion, they definitely being on the top 3. Come on now … Diamond is alright, but does anybody really believe she could sell more tickets in a stadium than E3. Seriously ?? Come on now. I just can;t sing Diamond ever packing out a stadium on her name alone. Really ?? But I could see E3 doing it next summer.
As far as what the larger viewing audience of this show is made of ?… I believe there are more country music fans watching this show then any other genre, and because of that Tate will win. Every year when these shows come on people here start talking about scams that are being used to get people out. I don’t believe that. I just believe
those who win reflect what the audiences of theses hows are largely made of …and these audiences go ga ga over the WGWG . Carly is awesome, but will she win? I doubt it.

I don’t believe that votes are tampered with but I do believe that the judges greatly manipulate the viewers thus getting the results they want…it has backfired a time or two on them though!
