Vocal Masterclass Discussion For Season 3 Of The Voice: The Top Eight Perform

20121015-192252.jpg
Well, from where I sit and type, this is shaping up to be a pretty amazing Top 8 show.

And it looks like one of Cee Lo Green’s singers might win this thing, although Blake Shelton’s singers will give him a run for the money.

However we should not cross Team Christina’s remaining singer, heartthrob, Dez Duron. Last week, he gave an outstanding performance of Michael Buble’s “Feelin’
Good”. .

The show airs Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. Eastern on NBC.

If you are late to this party, you should tune in. The singers are magnificent and so diverse in style. Truly something for everyone.

Catch you in the comments section. 🙂

  1. Ugh! I don’t know these kids names, but! I liked the girl with two different hair colors and the boy that sang the Queen song!

  2. That’s Melanie Martinez. She has updated her tamborine playing method. She used to hold it with one foot at strike it with the other. I like her along with Nicholas (long hair and beard time warp guy) Amanda (former Adell back up singer with a great set of teeth!) and Cassadee Pope who is on Blake’s team. I posted on this on the wrong thread about Trevin. He’s something else too.

  3. Vonnie. Haha. You mean Melanie and Cody? Yes, they are good. But they are all good and so diverse..

  4. Seriously how can one pick a winner from this group? They all deserve the win. Now that is a tour that would be worth the price of ten tickets. The diversity and the excellence is unparalleled. It looks like Amanda, Melanie, Nicholas, Cassandra, Trevin and, possibly Cody may make the Top 6. But Dez may squeak in there and oust Cody. Unfortunately, Terry has lost the momentum that he was building so well in the earlier segments of this show.

  5. For some reason I read right over your mention of the guy who sang the Queen song. Cody, as MCL said, is a good performer. Very comfortable on stage. He’s different every week. He started off in the blind audition as a cowboy country singer. Go figure, I think the Queen song was a little bit too much for him though. It was good but not great.

  6. I didn’t realize that it was a double elimination again tonight. I agree with the gist of your comment that Terry might be the weakest link. He’s a fairly competent rock singer but he hasn’t really shown me anything special yet. I overlooked him on the charts on my first look; he’s at #22. I also noticed that Amanda’s iTunes offering it’s not in the style of the version she sang on the show but more like Adele’s original version. It’s very good too, but the switch may have affected her sales. She may be the most underappreciated contestant on the show. She actually can sing anything, and has done so, and is very comfortable and lively on stage as well as being very attractive. And those teeth, did I mention those teeth? She’s the whole package. She just needs to sharpen her focus on what style she wants to perform.

Cassadee, Nicholas and Melanie will receive 10 votes for each of their iTunes sells due to charting in the top ten, so I would assume that they will be safe. Trevin should be safe as well. If I had to make a wild guess I would say that Terry and Dez will be cut tonight and that Christina, whose charm school classes seem to be wearing a little thin, won’t be fit to live with next week. I agree that Cody may be cut as you suggested instead of Dez. Maybe we can vote to cut Christina and give one of these guys another week. At any rate, it’s good to see the girls doing well in these shows again. Maybe Idol can turn the corner from the WGWG this year.

I haven’t found any mention of tour plans for this group yet but I will keep looking. They would make a great show.

  7. I sooooo agree…they are all very good, with me not knowing names other than Terry’s I am limited to descriptions…so I will just say, I liked them all with the two I described a little more than the others.

Gene, Yeah! I kindof liked that guy too; the stage setting and his outfit looked like a clip from the 70’s…again, no name, lol

I am dissapointed with Terry too…I think he is a great cover artist, especially his cover of “Baby I’m Amazed”

That’s Nicholas David. He’s one of a kind but reminds me of a lot of people, particularly Leon Russell. He has had very strong reactions from the audience all season. I would like to see him and Amanda, at this point anyway, in the finale.

  12. Me too Gene…I would have thought they both would have stayed…what happens to Christina now? Does she stay!!!

I read that Max will be on Dancing until the end of the season of 2013…then he is leaving the show…so it must be staying on!

  13. Vonnie,
Thanks for the DWTS info. Something Derik said last night, (through the tears) along with having the first ever All Star season, made me think it might be the last season.

I wasn’t surprised that either of these two were cut, just that they both went at the same time. I thought Terry would go along with one of these two this week. Christina will remain as a judge but will have no acts to mentor. I think she will be even more vitriolic than she has been the last few weeks. She has an “all about me” attitude that none of the other coaches have. It’s a shame because she has behaved pretty well this season as compared to last.

  14. Yeah! Not sure with Derrek…I will do some snooping!!! I know he is working on becoming an actor and has a movie coming out I think or a tv show!!! I’ll get back to ya!!!!

Messa don’ta likey Christina’s attitude a whole lot!!! The others give great compliments to all of the contestants!!!

  16. Thanks for the report on your detective work Vonnie. I’m not sure where the lost confidence he spoke of came from. I really enjoied he an Shawn this year, but there were so many good couples you couldn’t go wrong. It was great entertainment and I hope they are back as strong as ever next season.
