About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

It sounds like sort of a combination of the Blind Rounds and the Battle Rounds. I wonder if they will allow original material in tonight’s Knock-out Round. They have done a better job of having actual battles this year where either contestant had a chance to win than they did last year, but you can still spot some cannon fodder.
I’m ready for the Live Rounds too. The additional contestants drug the first two rounds out a little too long for me.

Most of the outcomes of this round were pretty predictable but a few matchups were very disapointing to see because a good singer would go home either way. They need one more steal at this level.

Hey Gene…I didn’t get to see last nights show, my local channels had hurricane coverage! We will get to see it on Thursday, but sounds like I didn’t miss much!!!
We came through Sandy with no damages…just alot of wind, rain and today snow! It was pretty wild last night…but we are so blessed considering the damages on the coast, my heart goes out to all who were affected by this storm!

I’m glad to hear that you and yours made it through the storm ok. So your horse just stood out there in the storm? How’s he doing?
I may have left you with the wrong impresion of the show. There were some very good performances and it’s worth watching if you get a chance, but the competitive outcome was fairly obvious or they had two competitors matched against each other where you didn’t want to see either of them go home. Tonight they will continue with Blake and Christina’s teams. Your cable system may have the “ON Demand” feature that not only offers rental movies but also has free shows. Within the free category are regular network broadcast programs that you can see after they are 3 or 4 days old. The Voice and Nashville are available on my cables On Demand menu, so you may have it too.
I was able to catch up with you on Nashville. I can’t believe the kid blew her recording session! Well, the first one anyway. I like both of the young singer’s voices.
You should also try to see DWTS from last night. You may be able to get the review show tonight if your weather settles down. There were several outstanding performances. Carina and Apollo, Shawn and Derek, Melissa and Tony and the judges over praised Kirstie. There was also a good group number at the end. It appears they are trying to run Val and Kellie (did I get it right this time?) off. Louie told them to “get a room” and they didn’t seem to take offense.

Thank you for the update on Dancing…I did tape it but didn’t even check to see if it was the show or hurricane coverage, I will check it out this evening, we should be able to watch the voice tonight since Sandy has beat it up north…I think she is knocking on brotherkarls back door with some rain/snow and wind.
Okay! Been pulling my hair out trying to place who scarlett sounds like, since you don’ t think Alison, lol. My son was listening to his phone yesterday as we were riding out the storm, and Nora Jones came on…you know that scene in Charlie Brown Christmas when Lucy is sitting at the piano trying to get (can’t remember his name) to play the Christmas song and when he starts jingle bells she yells “that’s it” and he goes rolling backwards? Well that’s kind of how this went when I heard Nora Jones…that young girl sounds like her!!! Yeah???

That’s interesting. There is a cable channel I get that plays one concert after another on Sunday night and this must have been lady’s night. Among others were Alison Krause and Union Station and Nora Jones. All was good with the world.
During one song Nora played a solo on her Wurlitzer electric piano and it drifted into something that sounded like Schroder’s theme song. I haven’t really thought about the young girl sounding like Nora but her style is more like hers than Alison’s. Sort of laid back and sultry. I love Nora Jones BTW. I think she would have made an outstanding Idol judge. Singer, song writer, band leader, very versatile as a duo artist, great live performer, has sung with everyone alive, good looking, legendary father, very friendly regular girl type of personality and NOT A DIVA. I’ll give some thought to the two sounding alike.

I got to watch the Voice last night…my favorite; the guy on Blake’s team who sang “Baby I’m Amazed” loved him!!!!!
So any thoughts on Scarlett and Nora Jones…no rush, just whenever you can get to it, lol 😉

No, nothing more on that yet. I wihave to listen to the young girl some more. I think I may have missed Blake’s contestant that you refered to. I noticed two in the recap that I didn’t. One was a girl in a polka dot dress and the other was a guy. My favorite girl, Suzanna Choffel, was eleminated last night. Blake was right about her making a bad song choice but I think he made a big mistake in cutting her.

Yes, she was the very last performer, which had me fooled into believing that she had it made. I have researched all of her stuff on the web and she is a very interesting singer and song writer. The good thing about these shows is that you get to meet a lot of new performers that are easy to follow with today’s media.
Yeah, Terry is the Irish rocker. I liked him in his first audition but I missed him last night. I will check my recording for sure to see his round. Thanks for the heads up.
