Vocal Masterclass Discussion For Season 2 Of The X Factor: Bootcamp Ends

This week”s offering of back-to-back shows, airing Wednesday and Thursday, will determine which singers make the cut for the Judges’ Homes.

Moreover, each judge will find out which group he or she will be coaching. This information may be even more exciting than the revelation of the 24 semi-finalists.

According to MJsBigBlog via Celebuzz, LA Reid is not to happy with his team of singers.

Apparently, he wanted to coach the younger singers on this season’s The X Factor but that is not what happened.

If you watched the promo video, there is a glimpse of him slamming the receiver of his phone down. I guess he doesn’t use a mobile phone! Ha!

So, off we go to the races once again. Two hours of mindless television where I can watch everyone else be stressed out except me for a change.

Comments anyone? Catch you later.

  1. Demi was a much better mentor than I expected her to be but Simon still doesn’t impress me much. There are a few decent groups this year. Sister C is interesting but there is something wierd about their harmonies that I can’t put my finger on.

Surely LA Reid can’t be serious. He has at least three of the top contestants. Believe nothing; it’s the X-Factor.

  2. Gene – I barely watched the show. Was working on my iPad. Just too long and too drawn out. Boooooring!

Yes, L.A. Reid has some great singers but, in the company of Justin Bieber, this is not a good fit for the over 25-year-olds. It’s weird, actually.

  3. Just when I think I can’t take another audition on a singing show, one like THIS comes along and makes it all worthwhile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMiwejZe5Zs&feature=youtu.be

  5. If I say Jillian and Beatrice…are those actually names of x-factor contestants??? Sorry, I don’t know there names yet…Jillian from the 17-24 age group and the little blond girl from Brittani’s group!!! I like them!!! I like the two country guys!!! But I’m not sure if the one young man could be considered country…but when he talks he reminds me of the nutty proffessors voice, (actually Eddie Murphy’s voice) when he’s Sherman…I love that movie, and love this kid…don’t know his name!!!

  6. MCL,
This show is why they invented the DVR. Don’t torture yourself.

I believe your girl Carly Rose Sonenclare emerged from this round as the leader, both by virtue of her excellent performance and the fact that she was positioned as the last auditioner. There were several good auditions in this round with a few outstanding ones.

  7. Gene – haha! Yes, I think I should DVR it. Soo darn tedious to watch. Carly is such a star and will go far! Britney didn’t seemed enthralled with her sooo…..

  8. I think they are toying with us. They are doing the same thing with Vino and Demi’s buddy (the bullied girl?) It looks like all four judges could make the top 5 this year. I’m pretty sure Carley will be there.

  9. MCL…is it just me or does Brittany seem way out or her comfort zone with this whole judge/mentor thing? I wouldn’t count on her to make any wise choices; I really hope she proves me wrong!

I came to the table late so I am scrounging to put names and faces together…I know Jillian and Beatrice, also carly…I like the young girl that got put into a group at the end, she has very long brown hair and blue eyes from what I can tell, don’t know her name!!!

  11. Vonnie,
Britney seems very uncomfortable for some reason. I’m not sure what she is usually like though. She’s one of those stars that I know who she is but I haven’t followed her career. She’s been pretty interesting in the earlier rounds. Some of her facial expressions are priceless. I intended to watch “Nashville” but forgot about it. It’s always fun to see a place you are familiar with on TV. Was it the younger female star that was singing in the bar? Were they at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge?

Speaking of Nashville, I went somewhere that you would like several weeks ago. I remember that you said before that you like the show “The Pickers.” I got to visit their store in Nashville and it was quite a treat. The place is like a museum and has virtually everything you have ever seen them pick on the show displayed very artfully there, plus a whole lot more. It is located at the site of the old Marathon motor company which was an early 20th century car company so their demise left behind a series of great old brick and heavy timber buildings with oak floors that have a lot of patina. There is an urban revival going on in this area so there are also craft shops, art galleries and so on there. It’s a neat place to visit.

On the same weekend I went to a concert on the old farm place of a Country and Western duo that I first saw on a reality singing competition. The show was in a barn on their property that has been converted to a TV studio where they tape another reality / variety music show. Also on the bill for the evening’s entertainment was a country singer songwriter (he wrote Brad Paisley’s “Waiting on a Woman”) who I first saw on yet another singing competition show. So how could we resist driving another 40 miles to visit the store of two of my favorite reality TV stars? I’m not sure if we lost touch with reality or got “beamed up.” It was pretty weird actually.

  12. Hey Gene,

Yeah! I’m not sure about Brittany either, I too never really followed here career, only remember her crashes!

This wasn’t the younger star on Nashville, it is the lead guitarist for the “older” singers niece and a young musician, she writes poems and he plays and sngs so they put this song together…the singing on this show is amazing!!! Lol, sounds like a soap opera doesn’t it??? 🙂 I think it is going to be a good show, the ratings were great, and I am ready for a grown up non-reality show! I am only starting to watch x-factor, and am not watching any of the other singing shows!!!

Sounds like you had a great time in Nashville…I have been to Memphis but never to Nashville, why is it that you can live close to a place your whole life but never go there?

Yeah! The american pickers guys were spotted in our area too!!! My hubby would love to go to their shop and also to vegas to see the pawn stars guys, oi…

  13. Now that didn’t make any sense…the older singers lead guitarist…it was his neice and a young guy singing in the bar…I didn’t catch the name of the bar, but, I think we will here alot more from them on the show!!! 🙂

  14. Vonnie,
I watched “Nashville” last night. The show is pretty good. The club they were performing at was the Bluebird Cafe. It’s the coolest place in Nashville and is pretty hard to get in. Siobhan Magnus has performed there. They have a long history of being a songwriters’ showcase and have recorded several shows from the club over the years. One of those was a long airing PBS program called “Live from the Bluebird.” The top writers of the day sit around in a circle and take turns performing each other’s songs. The crowd has to sit still and be quite due to the recording. It’s a must see if you make it to Nashville.

I noticed a similarity between the characters and real people. The older woman reminds me of Faith Hill all this character is more over the “hill” that Faith is. The younger starlet reminds me of a combination of Kelli Pickler, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, with an extra scoop of nasty. The guy in the middle looks like a young George Jones. I wish someone had given me the Martin guitar.

  15. Gene…Glad you watched, I really like it too!! Yeah! I have wondered who is supposed to be portraying who…I hadn’t thought of Faith Hill, I was thinking maybe Reba and the young one Taylor Swift, just because they are making her sound more pop…I dunno!!!

Anywhoo…it’s a good watch with music and no judges table!!!!!!!! 🙂

  16. Hey Gene…I have DWTS on my DVR, haven’t took the time to watch this weeks yet…question…how does this season work as far as who got to come back to dance, did the dancers get to pick who they wanted to come back or did the producers?

  17. Vonnie,
I assume the producers made the choices. Apparently there was a fan vote opportunity and “we” chose the girl that did disco this week. They are getting down to the cream of the crop. I like Vicki the soap opra queen and Shawn the Olympian. Shawn is one of those special people that light up a room and she is really challenging Derek, which is an interesting change of pace. I think Vicki and Max’s brother may have slipped over the line.

  18. Not sure which one is Vicki…the soap queen is Kelly…her parnter is Val right? Is he Max’s brother…if this is the couple you are talking about slipping over the line…I would agree with you, seem a little cozy don’t they???

I will try and watch, I like Derek, would love to see him digging deep for some great chorography and dancing!!!

Thank you for the info! 🙂

  19. Yeah, Kelly, that’s the ticket. Sorry. I haven’t watched General Hospital in over forty years and I didn’t see the first season of DWTS so she is a new face for me. Albeit a nice one. I never can remember Val’s name, but I’ll work on it. It’s funny seeing Shawn (?) offer Dereck a hand up off of the floor and say lets do it again when he looks like he’s done.

  20. Lol…don’t worry about names, I am the worlds worst when it comes to putting names to faces, it takes me awhile!!!

I really like Derek, I didn’t for a long time, because I thought that he thought very highly of himself and wanted everyone to know that he was good…but then I started watching him and his partners and albiet he gets good partners usually, but his work ethic is very good, as well as the chorography he puts together and well, one might as well say it, my gracious that boy has got the sexy going on!!! So he is now one of my favorites, Tony being the other one, he has a great partner in Melissa!!!
