Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

While I agree that this week’s competition isn’t as stiff as last week’s, there are three acts that definitely stood out to me. The Untouchables, Olate Dogs, and Lightwire Theater really did well this week. Olate Dogs have really won my heart because of their ability to train these dogs and their genuine love for each pup. I’ve been recording the entire season on my Hopper and I’m glad I did because it allows me to go back and revisit some of the performances. A Dish co-worker suggested I upgrade a while back and after trying it, I was sold. I’m also rooting for The Untouchables. These young people have really made me enjoy them week after week. The amount of work and dedication that goes into their weekly routines is staggering and yet these kids never falter. There is something to be said about a great teacher and willing pupils: the possibilities are endless.

I have wanted a dance group to win this thing and the Untouchables are terrific! I didn’t realize that instrument making contestant – is it David Close – already has a Las Vegas act. Why does he need this show and the big prize when he already has it? Plus the singers he’s used weren’t that good.
Kadija, I have been recording the dancers, and I must admit I loved the clogging male dancers. I had hopee that All That! would have made the finals!
I cannot believe the number of Reality Shows that will be on this week and next. Good thing I can go back and watch the shows on Infinity One!!

KariAnn – it’s William Close. And, yes, I agree his singers were not good at all. He has a Las Vegas act? Then why is he on the show? I mean – really! Truthfully, I can only take so much of him.
I love the lighting act – oh dear, forgot their name! And The Untouchables are amazing. Oh – and Olate Dogs are brilliant. Never thought I would love a dog act but this one is just the best I have ever seen.

Wow!! I guess the MCL community is really not into non-musical talent at all. The contest is over and there’s a winner and there hasn’t even been one comment at all about it ..negative or positive. Wow !! This is definetly a “singing only” crowd because there was a musician in the finals but obviously the majority of folks who generally come here were not even moved to watch. Not even a comment about Sharon leaving the show (to me one of the best judges this show has ever had) LOL That is so funny to me
Oh well … I’m going to miss her. I enjoyed this season and in my opinion even though there weren’t any singers in the finals …to me they had better talent this year than they’ve ever had since they’ve been on. Every talent who performed in the finals was phenomenal. The audience had a very tough choice. I can’t say that there was one talent there in my opinion that didn’t belong there. All so very different. Being a musician I was rooting for William Close but I must say I wasn’t disappointed with Tom, David, Joe, or the Untouchables either !! Awesome. The winner, Olate Dogs to me just equally as great. But much congratulations,

BrotherKarl – I have been sidelined here. New grandchild and just a lot of activity. Half the time, I don’t even know what day it is. Lolol.
I honestly forgot about AGT this past week. I was just flipping through channels, hit the X Factor and then scrolled up and voila – there was AGT. Too funny. As excellent as the talent was, the show started to fizzle in my mind. Don’t know why but it did. I think that my summer was just too busy. No time, no interest, lack of sleep, you name it…
And, yes, I will miss Sharon very much. I was hoping she would change her mind but it looks not. Hard to imagine who could replace her. The first person that comes to mind is Nicole Scherzinger. I actually enjoyed her on The X Factor last year. We’ll see….
