American Idol Season 5 HaHa Memories: We Made It Through The Rain

One thing about having the flu is that it allows me, in between sleeps, to saunter through YouTube videos to alleviate the boredom of doctor-imposed bed rest.

This video of “We Made It Through The Rain, performed by American Idol Season 5 Top 12 Finalists on Entertainment Tonight, is a real gem.

They look like they have been force-fed this song. Daughtry breaks me up. He could care less. His face says it all.

And why did Katharine McPhee get the longest solo? Don’t get me wrong – I am a huge Katharine fan, but poor Taylor. Last time I checked, he was the winner of that season.

Happily, most of these singers “made it though the Idol rain”, singing their music their way and enjoying successful careers. But, you would never know this was going to happen by looking at this video.

Okay, back to sleepy-bye here. Let me know what you think and I will join in the fun when I wake up.

  1. Haha is right! Some of the funniest Idol moments are the boriiiing group songs and “dance” moves step-together-step, lol. Then again, there were moments like this (step-together-step moves not withstanding): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uni-VHvnm0

  2. I’m sorry to hear that you are ill. I hope you are well soon.

“And why did Katharine McPhee get the longest solo?”

Uhh, for the same reason that Jessica or Hollie or Joshua would if this season’s cast were in the same position.

  5. Great job Janey79, That was probably the best ever group performance on American Idol. That was the height of heights for American Idol. How low we have sank to the point that now we have to send our children out of the room while JHo gets on stage and shakes her scantily clad booty. Who would have ever thought that American Idol would be questionable programming for our children to watch.

Makes you kind of wonder what America as a whole is coming to when we know that the ratings this season saw the biggest drop in viewers ever but the biggest voting demographic is still the pre-teens, teens and tweens. I guess some of the parents are not shielding their children from the obscenities of JHo and her entourage all but making love on stage.

  6. Oh, I love my dear Taylor, but he looks sick, tired, or hung over. I wish I could have gone to see Seasons 4 and 5 Concert tour. I have been dubbing my VHS tapes over to DVDs this weekend and Season 4 had some awesome talent. Now, Bo Bice was a white guy without his guitar, but a fantastic singer!

Awwww Gene, I simply cannot compare Taylor to Phillip. So, I won’t! LOL.

One of my guilty pleasures is the live Group Performances. I must admit my absolute favorite is Season 7 Finalists. They always looked like they were having fun! My favorite single performance is the Tribute to Neil Diamond. Jason Castro actually led off with “Cracklin’ Rosie” and sounded so perfect! I love attempts at the dance routines. I will replay these things over and over again. (But not the one above.)

Get well soon, Rosanne! How is your immune system doing?

  7. Taymaro, I tend to agree with you. I am not impressed with Rhianna, Nikki, or some of the other guests they’ve had. Lady Gaga is talented, but often offensive. When I watch some of the older seasons, I can see the emphasis was on the Finalists!

If a judge wants to perform, it should be with the Finalists, not alone. Then again, with JLo, what would they do? Besides most of them sing better than she does. I doubt that Idol will make any changes because of our complaints.

I love Katharine and her TV series, “Smash!” Yet, I do consider Taylor Hicks to be talented and entertaining!

  8. Kari Ann – my immune system is getting stronger. This virus is just horrible. Caught it from my grandson who carried it over to me from his other daycare location. He is fine – it’s amazing how these toddlers manage to bypass these viruses. They make great carriers, though.

  9. Something about Katherine’s voice never captivates me like it does others. I kind of dislike this song, though. It’s quite cheesy, don’t you think? Might just be me, haha.

  10. Malcolm – it’s major cheesy. It’s a Barry Manilow number and I love him. But this song with these voices just does not work.
