Tiah Tolliver, The X Factor

The X Factor’s Tiah Tolliver Defies Odds And Advances To Bootcamp

I have watched this video, featured below, so many times that I’ve lost count. It really is quite the spectacle.

The looks on the faces of Nicole and Paula as they tried to compute Tiah Tolliver’s vocal performance were absolutely hilarious.

What a mess of an audition. Was there a map that accompanied this performance because she was all over it pitch-wise?

But Simon loved her and felt he could make her a star. What does he plan to do with her? Auto-tune her to success?

And who shows up for an X Factor audition without an instrumental track? I’ll tell you who. Someone who can’t carry a tune to save her life.

The instrumental track would have exposed her tuning deficiencies, therefore she tried to go the a cappella route.

However, she and Simon discounted Paula and Nicole’s musical ability to detect the aberration.

In the end, Simon managed to sway Nicole, granting Tiah her three precious votes to advance her to the next stage of the competition.

What did you think? Do you agree with Simon? Do you think she will improve over time? Should the judges have insisted on a vocal track for every contestant?

  1. I didn’t think Tiah was that bad, but I think Simon knows something we don’t. LOL! We’ll see how she does in boot cammp.

  2. wow, as usual, i love your insight. i doubt she’ll go far once she’s in boot camp whatever that will be, and is compared with others. i think there is a ‘cuteness’ about her that is charming, however, this is about singing *too*. 🙂

  3. Thanks Bee. I am curious to see how this pans out in the end. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her, though. 🙂

  4. Did you hear her sing in boot camp! I hate to admit it, Simon was right and Paula and Nicole realized they were wrong.
