About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

MCL…I watched last night until the guy with the horse, and after the way Peirce treated him, I turned the channel and didn’t watch any more.
He really doesn’t understand what kind of training it takes to get a horse indoors and under lights with all of those people…! I hope that act makes it through to the next round!

Vonnie – I felt so bad for that act. The horse was clearly traumatized, yet, at the same time, why did he bring the horse? You have to wonder if the producers have some say in all this.
That being said, you missed some incredible acts later on in the show. “Silhouettes” takes your breath away with their inspirational beauty and artistry.

MCL…I wonder the same thing about the producers; remember last week the bluegrass band that did the Michael Jackson song, they made a comment at elimination that if brought back they would not listen to the producers and would go back to doing what they do best…! Also, the young man who danced last week, they choreographed his routine and he ended up doing his own thing.
I have the show taped so I can go back watch it; I was just so frustrated last night. Maybe I will sit down and watch it later on!

I agree with your comments about Silhouettes–they are wonderful.
It was a big surprise to see the Rhinestone Cowboy group bring the horse onto the stage because their act didn’t resemble what they had done to get to the finals.
Piers was in a bit of a snit last night, but perhaps it was because of what happened in his life outside of AGT. I read that he was very annoyed with a reporter who asked him if he had participated in hacking when he was employed by Murdoch.
So far there aren’t any acts on AGT this year which I’m in love with.

I haven’t had a chance to watch the last few weeks so the shows are piling up on my TiVO. I love your comment, Louise, that Piers might be reacting to things that have nothing to do with the show.

I was very disappointed when the magician didn’t make it last night–he was really quite good. I would much rather have him in the contest than the male pole dancer (even though he is also good).

Louise, you have no idea how much I needed your comment. Just the image of a male pole dancer was a boost to my mood. I just had to do something pretty difficult (work-related) so a smile was welcome. I didn’t watch AGT last night & I didn’t get home in time to TiVO it. I’m TiVOing henceforth however. I’m not sure how it dropped off the TiVO to-do list but it’s back on.
Also, here’s a piece of good news. My singing teacher was in the hospital for a month after his surgery but went home about 2 weeks ago. Today I am going to see him again for a lesson (first time since late May). Yay!!

I kindof like the Pole Dancer…?!?!?!? You should hear the hubby; can’t repeat it though!
He is a beautiful dancer and the strength that it takes to do those moves on the pole is unreal…but I agree with Howie…Middle America, won’t see it so much as a talent as they see him as being…well, feminine, and over-the-top??? 🙂
Wasn’t there another magician who was a little better than Landen???

Well, I’m watching these out of order & obviously I’m not voting. I thought Piers was absolutely AWFUL to the Rhinestone Ropers He (Piers) should just say what he needs to say & then let it go. He was intent on humiliating that man and also his wife. They came to entertain & they were proud of that horse. I had to stop listening & fast forward.
Quickie on the American Idol concert: absolutely wonderful. They really stepped up the production values compared to the last two years. Previously it was a check off presentation: here’s #10, here’s #9, here’s #8 etc. with a few group numbers thrown in for good measure. Last night I was a complete changeup – there was an initial whole group number (except for Scotty) followed by Pia followed by someone else (it’s in my notes). I’ll stop there because I want to save it for the complete recap. This concert made me want to watch next year, if for nothing else that I’ll go to the show & enjoy it more because I know about the singers. Everyone was relaxed. Stephano in particular was fabulous. Again, more in the recap.

OK, finished that quarterfinal show & I have one word: Silhouettes. They should absolutely win if they keep doing things that good. Stunning. Love it love it love it.
I agree that the motorcycles guys are not nearly as impressive as the judges think they are & the possibility that they could land on that guy’s head is something that shouldn’t even be allowed on TV. People WILL try that crap at home. And people will get hurt.
