About Masterclass Lady
Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli.
When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler.
She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8.
In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman.
In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins.
In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright.
In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins.

Dia better win this thing!! Javier is a great singer but I can think of so many other singers who sound just like him. Dia is exactly what you said…unique and innovative, which is why she would be an awesome winner.

Bummer! I didn’t get to watch the show last night, the hubby and I had taken a walk and when we came home it was already off; thanks to the internet it didn’t take me but a couple of seconds to find that Javier had won.
It’s okay though, I liked him too, still wish that Dia would have won!
MCL…did you get to see the lady on AGT last night that sang Opera? She was really good!

MCL – I want to share some David Archuleta magic with you from July 2, 2011. It is a medley of the American patriotic songs “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” and “America the Beautiful” performed at an event called Stadium of Fire, an annual Independence Day celebration in Utah, which David headlined this year. I’d love to know your thoughts about this, and I think it won’t matter that you live in Canada. Enjoy!

In addition to the video Kirsten posted, I think you’ll also enjoy this one of David singing the Star Spangled Banner. At the beginning, you’ll see a 13-year-old David (he also sang the National Anthem at the 2003 Stadium of Fire), and next you’ll see today’s David. With this juxtaposition, we get a unique opportunity to hear the changes in his voice after seven years have passed.

Have you been watching SYTYCD? I’m suprisingly not enjoying it like I thought I would. Most of the dances are just overly sexy, and there’s not enough variety. Nigel keeps stressing that the girls are “monsters” this year. But for me, this season just doesn’t compare to seasons past. I used to be soooo excited about this show. It’s disappointing. I know the ratings have been quite low this year, so maybe people feel the same way I do.

I am so bummed that the little guy Tanner (?) didn’t make it to Hollywood, he was much better than a couple of acts that made it through:

I do agree that Dia is extremely talented and I find more enjoyable to watch than Pia. There will be an over-saturaion of good singers in the market with all of these Reality Shows. I thought both Javier and Dia would make good winners.
Is anyone going to the American idol concert? It has been getting terrific reviews, although many are upset with the amount of stage time Pia is being given. What do you think? Our venue is sold out. I would love to attend it just to see the excitement James is creating. I understand that both Lauren and Scotty are doing a great job.
Anita I am an SYTYCD addict and have watched every show since the beginning. Nigel really messed up when he didn’t send anyone home the first week because his favorites were in the bottom. My favorite had been Nick, and I was angry that he got sent home. I wanted him in the TOP 10; he was that good!

I’m starting to like this season of SYTYCD a bit more than I did. I’m really missing Mia Michaels’ choreography. She’s one of my absolute favorites. I want to see more gorgeous, breathtaking routines, instead of mainly showcasing the sexy routines. You are probably right, they should have let a couple people go that week.
I’ve never read that people are upset with how much Pia is showcased in the tour. What do you know about it?

Anyway, I love Landau and Anna plus there are some spectacular magic acts and a lighting show-Illuminate- which are amazing as well.
Don’t forget, the YouTube finalists haven’t been announced yet and Jackie Evancho was discovered via this process last year.
