Hard to say, Vonnie. I am hoping that Scotty is a guest on Friday. Seems strange to me.

that does seem strange. when is Leno recorded? or is it live? the only thing I can think of is that it was pre-recorded for whatever reason, and he speculated???? who knows. but this is weird….i hope he appears soon. it only seems fitting.

No Leno is recorded live the same day it is aired. They record it during the late afternoon, edit it and then air it at 11:35 P.M.

Jay said earlier in the week that the winner of American Idol would be appearing on his show on Thursday. For some reason, Lauren is on tonight instead of Scotty. Hopefully, he will be on the show Friday.

Gene – Top 3 is a lousy place to finish because the singer loses out on tons of media interviews.
For instance, the eliminated singer each week was featured the next night on Jay Leno’s show but, with Haley, she had to go immediately into rehearsals for the Finale.
I was thinking that, perhaps, TPTB wanted to get some mileage out of James and that is why it was best he finish in 4th place.

That’s what I was afraid of but I couldn’t recall how it has happened in the past. That’s an interesting thought about James.
There may have been another glimpse behind the Idol curtain as well. There was a rumor that Haley was recording a new song for release today. That hasn’t happened, but it might reveal that the third place finisher goes into full back-up mode in the event that one of the other two is unable to compete. Have you ever heard anything to that effect?

No I haven’t Gene. And truth be told, the Top 2 show is so tight that barring an unbelievable emergency, the original Top 2 must go on.

I think that Haley, along with the other members of the Top 13, are just too busy for any media. Look at all the numbers they performed? It was practically non-stop. I hope Haley doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.

That makes sense. It would be very difficult to substitute a contestant.
I was so pleased to see her with Tony Bennett. She seemed very happy. I wish she could find a vehicle for her jazz interest. Something along the lines of Maria Muldaur or Rickie Lee Jones would be pretty cool. Not much money in that area though.
So, where is Scotty?

I saw somewhere (TMZ?) that Haley was in hair/makeup the night of the finale because Lauren’s voice was nil, and they didn’t think she could be in the final 2!! So, Haley could have won after all. There was also some comment made that they “froze” Lauren’s throat so that she could sing, and that was the only thing that worked or she would have been out of the running.
I also saw a note that, after that full-lip plant kiss Lauren gave Scotty right when he won, she was asked if Scotty was her boyfriend and she grinned, giggled and coyly said, “You’ll have to ask him!” The press asked him and he said he was single, just like always! LOL!
