Well, I guess our votes really do count. They really, really do count!
And, I have to eat crow since I insisted that American Idol was not going to let this happen. But crow is good – never tasted so good in fact.
Yes, in the end, despite the endless propaganda by American Idol to claim a female winner this season, 17-year-old singer, Scotty McCreery, defied odds and took this year’s title as American Idol.
Runner-up Lauren Alaina just could not overtake the momentum created by the extremely large fanbase for Scotty. He was unstoppable and his fans made absolutely certain that this young man was going to walk away with the crown this year.
Following his Top 2 performance last evening, the fans pledged to vote non-stop for this talented, lovable young artist. And it paid off!
A record 122 million votes were recorded after Lauren and Scotty’s final performances. That’s a lot of busy fingers dialing, texting and clicking for these two young artists. I guess Country Music is alive and well and living in the USA.
Also for the record, the Results Finale this evening was the best one ever. Tons of star power and performing opportunity for this year’s Top 13. Just incredible.
Congratulations Scotty. You are a very deserving and talented recipient.
*Happy Dance*. America got it right.

So happy! (: Even though I was rooting for James from the beginning, Scotty deserves it, and has worked hard for it. Lauren was so gracious as well. I’m proud of the two of them! I don’t know if I could handle all that pressure.

Way to go Scotty! This is a real feel good moment for me! It’s been a long time since I felt so happy inside and out for an Idol winner.
Go get ’em, Scotty!

I’m happy for Scotty too. But I also want to give tons of credit to Lauren for handling the loss so well last night. I didn’t notice for one second that she seemed disappointed. She seemed genuinely happy for Scotty. That was very classy.
