Masterclass Discussion Thread For America’s Got Talent: Group One Of The Top 48

I am visiting family today and hope to return before tonight’s show.

In the meantime, this blog topic will provide opportunity for AGT fans to add their thoughts and comments about the first Group of 12. You will be my eyes and ears until I return later this evening.

I still miss the sleight-of -hand magician. Does anyone out there know if he has been snagged by a savvy management company?  How can anyone – including AGT – let this man slip their fingers? (sigh)

I am not sure why they let the guys from Haiti or the guys who were homeless go.

I am not sure why they kept the “funny man” who does the Arnold Swartznegger.

They kept the Air guys…the ones who does not use instruments. Is it warranted for a Las Vegas show?

I wasn’t impressed with the guy who does the bicycle tricks. You?

  2. It is a reality TV show. Despite being a talent show, some get chosen as canon fodder (the silly, the odd, the ‘funny’… and some good talent gets sent home). So I just enjoy what is presented (fast forward through the ridiculous- I always record before watching, lol) and concentrate on the real talent.

  3. My favorite acts last night were Fighting Gravity, Nate Kenyon, and the two sisters with Cystic Fibrosis (sorry I can’t remember their name). I appreciated Nate Kenyon’s little comback at Howie. He seems like a really nice guy. Normally I am not very interested in the group acts, but I was really impressed with Fighting Gravity.

  4. Louise – I loved Fighting Gravity and Nate Kenyon as well. I missed the first 6 acts but do like the two sisters also. However, they are limited in their scope and the younger one is a 100 times more talented than the older.

  7. I love Fighting Gravity! I fell in love with them their first audition. They are so different and would be an absolutely joy/treat to see in Las Vegas! I really hope they win!

  8. I agree that Fighting Gravity is a really unique, entertaining act. But I still prefer the singers and am looking forward to Michael Grimm’s next performance.

  9. Hey Louise…I agree with you! My son is a Martial Artist, and while these guys are entertaining, there technique is not so great!

I’m still waiting on the singers too!

  10. Louise,

I shouldn’t have said that about their technique…they are more Extreme martial Artists and my son is Traditional, so it does make a difference!

  11. Fighting Gravity is the group that does the light show….I don’t believe they do any Marial arts. I do love the singing too, but I’m rootin’ for Fighting Gravity.

I am glad who won. Although sad for the whistling hand lady ~ she was a hoot. The future Funk are really too young. `

  14. No worries….it can be hard to keep all the acts straight! I don’t know how the judges do it. Fighting Gravity is the group of college students who do a light show! IT’s so cool. Here’s the performance from this week:

  15. Oh, okay…I have not gotten to see them! I must admit that I didn’t get to watch all of the auditions, but I will certainly keep an eye out for when they are on again.

    Thank you!!!

Is Virginia Tech the place where all those kids were shot some years ago?

Yeah, it was…such a tragedy! Tech has had a couple of horrible things happen there, such a shame, it is a great school.
