David Archuleta’s New Single, “Crush” To Be Released On Friday August 1st

Alright, this may be old news, but it’s still great news!

Not only will David’s new single, “Crush” be released on Z100 on Friday, but it looks like it will be the first official single to be released since David Cook’s “Time Of Your Life” after the seventh season of American Idol ended in May 2008.

You can read all about the journey over at David’s remarkable Fanblast site. Keep checking back often and set your clocks to 7:40 A.M. on Friday to hear the premiere airing of this song.

  1. Thanks so much MCL for your wonderful updates of the Toronto concert. I live in the GTA as well but couldn’t make the scheduling work to go to the concert. Hearing David A sing live is definitely on my “bucket list”.

I’m so excited to hear his new single! I tried to log onto the radio site last night and the message said no access from Canada so I’m very frustrated.

I loved David’s vblog from Toronto and from Pittsburgh too. Sounds like he and Jason are hanging out together. I’m not surprised these two gentle souls are gravitating towards each other. Did I hear correctly that they were doing a bit of writing/creating together? Maybe it’s just informal but I’d LOVE to hear an Archuleta/Castro writing collaboration. And I’m not a “texting tween” nor a “gushing grannie” just a middle aged mom/business woman with everything from Norah Jones to Rush on her ipod.

Thanks for sharing this information. Age is relative when it comes to appreciating good music. Keep that inner child within you always!:)

  6. Dreyfussca — I hope you were able to listen to the interview and Crush — I came to this site afterwards. I am in Mexico on vacation and was able to hear it on davidisourhero.com == for international fans.
you c an go to that site now – they are playing Crush over and over again (I am on my 10th time !)

Not into POP music – but I love Crush!!!! and I don’t think it is just fangirlie bias.

David gave an absolutely FANTASTIC interview! His great personality real showed = and as obnoxious as these particular people are on their radio show — they gave David the most respect (with one minor transgression) you can tell that they completely adored him.

We now have a new yeah eeh yeah eeh yeah part to obsess over.

MCL — it sounds like they are dubbing over David’s voice for the “back up” vocals? do you agree — make sense to me, no one can back up sing David better than David!

sorry if typos – been up since 4 am.

  7. Have to add this – gives you goose bumps

listen to the music on demand continuous loop playing CRUSH — while you look at MCL’s fantastic photo of the “shining star” (camera flash) glowing off of David’s face – and Cookie looking at him in adoration.
That is one prophetic photo! Swooooooooosh – the sound of a rising, shooting star. Love it.

  10. I wonder if he will have the opportunity to sing this on the tour. Substitute it for “Apologize” maybe? Or else sing 5 songs instead of 4? Yes, I like that idea. More Archie! Then, Cookie can sing 6! haha

  11. i was trying to decide what song in his set he should replace with CRUSH and i think mcl hit it on the head, if a song needs to be replaced, it should be apologize.

maybe start with angels, move on to stand by me / beautiful girls and when you say you love me and close with crush.

there is a video of archie listening to crush on the show over at elvisduran.com and the poor kid was shaking to the point of having to grab his arm. after the show he talked up a nervous stream of consciousness storm while walking out of the building, i just love the kid.

  12. That video is so adorable and don’t you just want to hug David trhough the computer screen? Always worrying! Stop worrying, David = we love you.

Oh – and did you see how he became giddy and shy when the song moved through his upper range? He was totally relaxed when he was listening to his lower range – mouthing the words and all! But, like a typical singer, he became more sensitive when listening to his upper range.

You upper range is fine, David! Beautiful. Relax. We all love you. We truly do and the song is going to be HUGE!

  13. That video is PRICELESS!!! And the interview is AWESOME!!! It really shows the caring nature that’s within David when he worries about his fans not liking the song. This cannot be scripted. Love this kid. Love this song.

  15. MCL, this is another video shot inside the studio showing David during the song play. What’s special about this video is that you don’t hear the song itself, but David’s talking/laughing.
