Do we really want to go there?

Isn’t it enough that the notorious terrorist was finally captured and laid to rest in the high seas after brutally massacring thousands of innocent lives on September 9, 2001?

According to USA Today, Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal have been meeting with actors for an Osama bin Laden assassination project, tentatively titled Kill Bin Laden.

The news first broke via The Hollywood Reporter. There is lively discussion in this article about the future direction of this movie.

In other words, what should be the focus in the wake of Bin Laden’s death? How about laying this movie to rest? Why must we glamorize this cruel, horrific terrorist and relive the horror that was 9/11? Are we crossing a line here?

I can understand a documentary, as it would be important for historical sources, but not a Hollywood movie.

How do you feel? Would you pay to see this movie? Will it receive the accolades similar to other other non-fiction movies such as Schindler’s List? Did I just open a can of worms?

I am adding this blog topic quickly.

We have been suffering severe power outages, affecting internet, television and basic utility services in our area. So. Much. Fun!

UPDATE #1: Lots of Idol alumni on stage tonight but no David Cook? What is going on with this guy?  He’s disappeared – totally off the radar. Does anyone have any information about him?

However, now that the Fall season has begun and my schedule has been finalized, I can now get back to the business of keeping MasterclassLady.Com current and alive!

Let’s see now, since last we spoke, so many wonderful people have left us, including superstar Michael Jackson and super politician, Senator Edward Kennedy. And, I must say that both the memorial and the funeral services for these gentlemen were absolutely exquisite – tastefully done.

Although both came from entirely different backgrounds, both were justifiably respected and applauded by their fans and followers for their contributions – one to the world of music and the other to the world of politics. Their legacy will remain with us for a lifetime.

Interestingly enough, Senator Kennedy was buried on Michael Jackson’s birthday, August 29th, which also happens to be the birthday of my dear father, Henry Giallonardo. My father, who was an extremely intelligent, gentle and caring individual, passed away on July 8th 2000 and I do miss him every single minute of every single day.

Additionally, Paula Abdul will no longer act as a judge on American Idol. I’m not sure if I like this scenario, but, I suppose, time will tell. I just hope and pray that this season’s show will fare better than last – I am still shaking my head over the Season 8 fiasco!

I am very excited for David Archuleta’s Christmas album, “Christmas From The Heart”, set to drop on October 13th, 2009.  I can only imagine how wonderful and inspiring this CD will sound with David’s glorious voice and musical passion at the center of this recording.

And we cannot forget about Adam Lambert. His new CD should be ready for release soon but details weren’t available on Amazon.Com. His website is rocking though! Have a “look-see“!

And, it appears that Jason Castro has released a new song, “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again“.  His fans are relentless in making certain that I have a ‘heads-up” whenever talented Jason inches a step forward to his escalating career.

“Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” is a great, great number and Jason’s voice sounds terrific.  Even though his voice is not as “open” as I know it could be,  Jason sings with musicality and expressiveness. And his diction is crystal clear!

Finally, there’s Jay Leno who is set to take over Prime Time every weekday with his new show. Finally, something to watch on TV at 10:00 P.M. besides Frasier and Seinfeld re-runs – although I worship these shows everytime I watch them for the zillionth time.

As always, I would like to welcome everybody back to the MCL site, as well as express appreciation for those who stopped by every so often during the course of the summer to say “hi” and left comments or news items.  You can’t buy this kind of loyalty!

Throughout the day, I was extremely moved by the entire proceedings leading up to the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. Watching the faces of the 2 million plus people assembled on the National Mall and hearing the beautiful music performed by singers and musicians, everyone was spiritually and physically transported to this moment in history that will remain indelible in the minds and hearts of all.

And President Obama has organized a truly interactive website, encouraging the people to stay fully involved in government policies and issues in the years ahead. BarackObama.Com should be bookmarked on everyone’s blog – this President is going to make a postive difference in the world and we should be supporting and applauding his dedicated efforts every step of the way.

What a day to remember and to pass on to future generations!

I hope all of you have had a relaxing and healthy holiday and are ready to begin another year full of fun, surprises, success and, most of all, good health.

I had a wonderful time over the Christmas season and am happy to announce that my younger daughter, Maria, announced her engagement to a wonderful young man. As you can well imagine, we are very excited here and that explains my lack of presence on the MCL site. We have been very busy booking venues for the ceremony and reception, the photographer, the musicians etc. I think we have done all we can do – for the moment. Ha!

And, of course, I am all geared up for the American Idol Season 8 premiere next week. I believe the start date is January 13th, 2009 and the show is offering a new format this season. Plus, we cannot forget about the new judge added to the triumvirate of Paula, Simon and Randy – Kara DioGuardi.

However, I am anxiously waiting to view the historical Presidential American Inauguration on January 20th, 2009, starring President-Elect, Barack Obama. Just typing this man’s name, I get goosebumps. What an exciting time for Americans and for the world. This man will change the course of history; there will be “bumps” along the way, but, certainly this wonderful and talented man has the capability, skill, drive and determination to weather any storm and circumvent any obstacle.

Oh my – it doesn’t get better than this, does it?

Last night, Barack Obama entered the history books by becoming the first African-American to be elected as President of the United States Of America in the history of the American elections.

He ran a clean, confident, intelligent campaign, encouraging Americans to treasure and cultivate their traditional values while, at the same time, promising the American public that monumental changes will be made within the government that will positively impact their lives.

Despite all the challenges he has faced, he has remained a calm, positive presence during this extremely heated, intense, stressful and, at times, cruel Presidential election.

Surrounded by his lovely wife, Michelle, and his beautiful daughters Sasha and Malia, he radiated a sense of all that could be so right with this world and, now, as President of the most powerful country in the world, perhaps this will slowly become a reality for all.

It is time that everyone return to- and gain respect for- grounded, moral values and defy all that is ugly and self-destructive in our world. We need to become more centered and balanced as we go about our daily lives and learn that success comes through hard work and sacrifice.

Certainly Barack Obama has exuded all of these qualities throughout this campaign, always taking the high road and always exuding stellar leadership qualities. His prominent and prestigious role as newly-elect President of the United States Of America will undoubtedly create change and spread goodwill throughout the world.

The following promotional video was aired this evening on all the major networks and it was a powerful testament to Barack Obama’s strong leadership ability.

He has sound, definitive plans for the United States Of America and is skillfully and prodigiously ready to lead this country in a new direction that will be historically significant and internationally therapeutic.

I just found this hilarious compilation of Sarah Palin interviews in the Toronto Star. It truly made me laugh – and scared – at the same time. I apologize to all the Republicans, but, honestly, this woman’s position as a Vice-Presidential candidate truly makes no sense to me.

How did this happen and why? To choose a woman to run for Vice-President on the basis of her gender seems really desperate and the stuff of Hollywood movies- in this case a television sitcom. Certainly there were other capable candidates – male or female - for the job.

The interviews made me cringe above and beyond all else. I laughed at the Saturday Night Live skits, thinking that the skits were exaggerated in content. Then, after watching the Kate Couric interviews, I realized that they were completely bathed and cloned from the reality of Sarah Palin’s Vice-Presidential journey thus far. Incredible.
