Vocal Masterclass Discussion For The Voice: Team Adam VS. Team Cee Lo

Well after last week’s The Voice show, I think it’s safe to say that Team Christina smoked Team Blake.

Christina has been extremely crafty while building her team of singers. She can now boast four distinct singers for the quarter-finals, evenly divided between genders. And all are very strong. They mean business!

Tonight’s show should be very entertaining. Both Team Adam and Team Cee Lo have some unique artists and it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I don’t know how many readers here in the MCL Community are still on board with The Voice, but, hopefully, there will be some biters in the comments section. 🙂

About Masterclass Lady

Rosanne (Giallonardo) Simunovic began her musical career in Timmins, Ontario. She studied piano with Anne Pizzale and later, at an advanced level, with Soeur Anita Vaugeois (Sister Cecile of Les Soeurs De L’Assomption in Timmins). Her vocal and accompaniment skills were nurtured by her aunt, the late Dorothea Mascioli. When Rosanne graduated from O’Gorman High School, she moved on to the University of Toronto where she continued her piano and vocal studies while attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was hired as a piano accompanist for several musical companies, most notably, the National Ballet Of Canada. She presently holds an A.R.C.T. Teacher’s Diploma in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Rosanne has studied choral conducting with numerous well known Canadian Conductors, including Wayne Riddell of Montreal, Quebec and the internationally renowned Dr. Elmer Iseler. She has been a founding member of numerous community-based arts organizations: the Timmins Arts Council, later known as Arts & Culture Timmins, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, and, the Timmins Youth Singers…as well as the TYS Alumnus choir, the Timmins Concert Singers. In 1987, she was also selected to be the conductor of the Timmins Board Of Education Choir, comprised of talented students from Grades 5 to 8. In 1988, she was elected to the Board Of Directors of the Ontario Choral Federation (now known as Choirs Ontario), where she served as Chair of the Festivals Committee for six consecutive seasons. In 1996, in honour of the Ontario Choral Federation’s 25th Anniversary, Rosanne was selected as one of 25 recipients of the OCF’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contribution to the choral art. The ceremony was presided by Lieutenant Governor, Hal Jackman. In November 1997, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Rotary Club Of Timmins to receive the prestigious Paul Harris Award for her years of dedication to the artistic development of young musical talent in Timmins. In August of 2002, Rosanne Simunovic was selected by the Board Of Directors of Choirs Ontario to serve as Conductor of both the Provincial Junior and Teen Choir Camps, now renamed in honour of the Camp Benefactors, Don and Lillian Wright. In November 2002, Rosanne was the one of the recipients of the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her work in the development of the arts in Timmins. 1. i am watching. i find it interesting that i’m more interested in it than in dwts. i just was looking back at my twitter and saw your comments. i really really enjoy those comments however since i’m not following along as you write them i never know who you are referring to. could you put names? i’d really love it.

i was interested in the judges comments. i wonder if christina is ‘harsh’ because she is that way or because she is being strategic? she seems more uptight than the others.

i found it interesting that the judges will critique their own people honestly SOME time. for instance i thought while james (james?) was singing that he was touching too many ladies hands and sure enough cee lo called him on it. *that* i *like*!!

i don’t know most of these people’s names yet. the only person i know is jordis unga because i’ve seen her before on Rock Star, another mark burnett produced music show. she looks entirely different now, seems entirely different, i miss the old jordis.

  2. I recorded the show and watched it today. I am loving DWTS too much not to watch it live. I think that Erin needs to go, period. She should never have gotten this far. Cee-Lo did what he could with “Walk Like An Egyptian”, but Erin was breathy and off key throughout the performance. She is not going to make it as a singer.

I thought this live performance show was better than last week’s for me. I think Kim made a huge mistake singing Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”. She has a powerful voice, but this did not work. There is a reason why I say don’t do an Adele song. I thought her performance illustrated the pitfalls. You want to be yourself and not Adele 2.0. Adam should have tried to get her to sing something else and I think he realized that after he heard her.

The girl who sang “Roxanne” by Sting gave a great performance. She did blow one of the last high notes, but her overall performance was so strong that she should be okay. I didn’t love that guy who was a Broadway star, Tony, is that his name? The bald guy who just had a baby.

There was a Tony on Adam’s team that I didn’t love. Pip was not good trying to sing a rock song. He doesn’t have the voice for it.

I really enjoyed the comments from the judges. There was some real constructive criticism from all of them. It’s true that the competing judges want to highlight the weaknesses of the other judge’s singers. However, I do think they give praise when it’s deserved. We don’t hear this kind of critique on Idol.

  3. Mindy – yes!! The critiques from these judges are amazing! Amazing! They are so detailed and precise – not easy to do on live TV.

  4. mindy, that guy who was a broadway star is just ‘odd’ to me. maybe it is his eye make up, i don’t know, but he just ‘feels strange’, i just don’t feel ‘comfortable’ with him. i’ve not yet seen the results show, i watched dwts, i thought i’d more easily run into a spoiler with that one.

i really enjoy going to i tunes to check if any of them get on the charts. jordis unga was number one on the rock list during her week, and the female who sang
roxanne is number one this week, followed at number two by the guy who sang last.

i don’t remember their names but i can click there to see there picture so i know who they are.

erin was swallowed up by all that background stuff. blake is really good about saying, ‘you don’t need all that production, just sing’. the production doesn’t bother me as much here as it did on x factor, probably because it isn’t as overdone, but it certainly does overpower some of the singers.

  5. oops, i made an error. number two in the rock songs on i tunes is tony delucca, the former mickey mouse guy. interesting since christina came down on him so hard, i imagine he would feel a little redeemed by this.
