Vocal Masterclass Discussion Thread For American Idol Season 11: The Houston Texas Auditions

Tonight, American Idol continues its journey while highlighting the talent discovered at the Houston, Texas auditions.

I thought last evening’s show in Aspen showed some very promising talent.

There were a couple of guys with resounding baritone voices and, of course, Hippie Girl Haley was just tremendous. What a surprise!

And she is different and quirky in every good way, so I trust she will venture far in this competition.

So nothing more needs to be said – let the show begin in!

What do you think of the season thus far? Let us in on your favorites in the comments sections.

  1. Cheyenne James sounded better to me than Linda Williams, but AI made a point to show us that the former didn’t make it while the latter did. It’s off-putting. I’d like to believe that the best get the chance to move forward. I didn’t think it was a matter of taste in music, because I like Alicia Keyes, so the style should not bother me at all. I actually feel a bit bad for Linda, because she felt she did well and that JLo was mistaken in her judgement of that performance. Can it really be just a matter of taste?

  2. No, I feel it is game playing by the producers. Cheyenne had a good voice and they were playing their little act. I remember Baylie from Season 6. She will probably make TOP 12. Country music seems very popular on Idol. I have not been impressed with the past few auditions. Idol has loss its zip. I notice very few minorities are going through.

I hope the judges will do a better job when the live shows begin. Randy should be more informative with his comments. Jennifer is doing a good job. Steven is being Steven. I hope he can contribute more. I have been looking for Jessica Sanchez but they just showed her making it. It will be good to see, “The Best of the Rest.”

Once we get to the TOP 42, it will be easier to pick out a favorite.
