Oh Help Me Mama. Scotty and Lauren’s Singles Have Been Leaked

Over at A Taste Of Country, you can learn all about Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery’s singles, scheduled to be performed tomorrow evening on the Top 2 Performance Show and released to the airwaves on Thursday, May 26th.

Lauren’s single is “Like My Mother Does” and Scotty’s is titled “Love You This Big”.

Both songs will be available for download on ITunes after Tuesday’s show.

According to MJs Big Blog, Lauren’s song was culled from American Idol Season 7 Finalist, Kristy Lee Cook’s album, “Why Wait”. So strange.

And wait until you hear it. It is simply full of all kinds of cheese and I usually like cheese. But this seems like cheese overdose. However, it’s wholesome and endearing and will probably bring in a ton of votes for Lauren.

Does anyone get the strange feeling that Lauren and Scotty will be launched as a duo? Last night, I had a premonition that they would tie but that is just too far out there.

Oh, and in case you are still speculating whether or not Lauren is going to take this crown, please note that none other than Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood, will be choosing one of Lauren’s songs for tomorrow’s performance. Ah – the plot thickens!

George Strait will be choosing one of Scotty’s songs. This show is too funny this season. A real, shall we sat, hootenanny!! Yee-haw!

So who are you rooting for? Please share your thoughts.

  1. Oh this is too funny…both your commentary and the scoop behind AI!! This is all to crazy….even though we said it all along (well, correction you said it) a part of me was hoping that the public would be the ones deciding. I guess that was wishful thinking…

AI definitely had this plan all along. It wouldn’t surprise me at all now if they launched as a duo. Both are going to have stellar country careers regardless of who wins. I sort of stopped watching it the past couple of weeks. I have flicked back and forth but the stanley cup playoffs are much more exciting these days than AI.

I don’t think I will be able to see the final either…not that I don’t want to see, but other commitments have me missing it. In all honesty, ‘m excited for it. But more so to see what happens: i.e. will they be launched as a duo? as well as the stars who will perform. I’m excited to see it for other reasons than simply finding out who wins….heck, I can just come on here and discover that! 🙂

Carrie Underwood choosing Lauren’s songs?? Who’s the lucky person that gets to choose Scotty’s? Or is this a hint that Lauren will win….

I just listened to Lauren’s “winning” song. One word describes it: UGH!! (is that even a word?) You are right, it is cheesy! But wholesome and I agree, will probably win votes – especially if she sings it with feeling and dedicated to her mother. But to me a winning song should be about achieving the status of an American Idol and about the process of becoming it. (case in point: “Time Of My Life”..best winning song to date!).

Okay that’s my rant for the evening…..thanks for the laugh, MCL. I needed that tonight! 😀

  2. How neat that Lauren and Scotty get to have songs picked for them by Carrie Underwood and George Strait! That’s especially and honor for Scotty, since George is such a legend, and huge force in the Country Music Industry for such a long, long time!

  3. You are most welcome, Bizzee. And you are so correct – The Time Of My Life is the best single from Idol. Ever.

  4. I agree, Anita. It is exciting for both. This must be a first, isn’t it? Usually the singles are specifically composed for the Top 2 and not selected by renowned artists.

  5. How silly of me….I should definitely be mentioning having Carrie Underwood and George Strait choosing songs is awesome.

I didn’t read your blog correctly. I take back my writing of “who gets to choose Scotty’s song???” as I see it is George Strait. I was confused for a moment, but all is clarified now! 😀 My apologies for ranting….when I didn’t even have the facts “Strait” *blush*

  7. Rosanne,

There’s been talk on various sites that this will be the worst finale ever. No, it’s not one of the best finale’s ever, but both Lauren and Scotty are very talented with beautiful voices, and certainly alot to offer to the music industry. I think two of the very best finales ever were the David/David Finale and the Kris/Adam Finale!

  8. Anita – Well, let’s just say that it will have a less sophisticated feel than previous finales. This show is surprising. Sometimes, the unexpected can emerge. I feel this is going to be a good finale but nothing will ever top
the two Davids. That was just magical and memorable.
