So You Think You Can Dance

Tonight, six dancers will dance again and two will be eliminated tomorrow evening.  So, given the precarious circumstances surrounding this season’s offering of So You Think you Can Dance, does that mean that two dancers will be injured this week?

Billy Bell, after taking a week off to rehabilitate, should be back in the saddle again, as well as Jose, Kent, Lauren, Adicheke and Robert.

Let’s hope that all six dancers are at the top of their game this week and we are treated to an exceptional show.

Best of luck to the Top 6!

Enjoy the show and please come back to comment!  Any dance instructors out there? We need to hear from you!

  1. Well, I think Jose is about ready to go home. We need to watch to see if he particpates in the Group Performances. I think it will take a miracle for Billy to be saved. At least both of them know that they will be on the tour. I don’t think it is fair that they have given Jose another Hip Hop number to perform with Comfort, but we’ll see how he does on the Fox Trot.

  2. Seems that Lauren had to see the Medic. Seeing as I want her to win, I pray she is OK. Being dehydrated can be fixed quickly. I hope it isn’t anything more than that. I hope she’ll be OK by tomorrow (Wed.) night!

We now know that Jose had the groin injury as has been mentioned last week on line. Lauren is the brightest star on the show. What’s going on here?

I said before how much I love Bollywood, and my eyes were drawn to Robert. However, Billy’s “Mad World” was an outstanding performance. It’s anyone’s guess who is going home – I just hope it isn’t Lauren!

Funny thing, Simon does not like four judges on American Idol, and yet we have four judges again tonight. It certainly tames Mia’s reactions and has benefitted the show. I like Toni Redpath and hope to see her for the Finals.

I much prefer the Bollywood style over Hip Hop. Is there something else we haven’t seen done this season?

Billy may have gotten his miracle. I do wish that he had not injured himself for the step number last week – I think it would have been really interesting (and possibly illuminating) to see he and Kent paired up for that. I hope Nigel suggests this number be put into the Finale! I bet it will be awesome. Here’s the TOP 4 I want:

    Lauren
    Billy
    Kent
    Robert

I enjoyed the show tonight. There were some good dances!

  3. There really were some great performances this week, grammie.

For me there were two standout performances–the, first, as you said, was Billy’s Mad World. I cried–that was simply outstanding, both in terms of pure dance and in creating a full character through body language. Brilliant and so sad. Unforgettable.

The second was Kent in the “From This Moment On” number. The judges were right, the choreography was right of an old Hollywood musical–here’s the same number from “Kiss Me Kate”:

Carol Haney is the dancer with the pony tail, and the guy she’s dancing with is a young Bob Fosse. Kent totally made me think of Bob Fosse in that number–it’s a whole new aspect of him. Twyla Tharp, are you watching?

  4. Grammie Kari – very well said! And I love your Top 4, although I wouldn’t be upset if Adechike took Robert’s place. I know that won’t happen. The judges are totally not enamored with him and, for the life of me, I don’t know why.

  5. Wow, ReReeader. This is a great video. The dancers are so fluid and wasn’t Bob Fosse brilliant? Thanks for adding it here.

  6. My great pleasure, MCL! It’s one of my favorite musicals–and that Fosse/Haney piece of the dance just shines! It seemed to me the choreographer for last night was very influenced by that number. (Which is a good thing in my book.) Kent fit that genre perfectly.

Based on their comments last night. I think that the judges have already decided to send Jose home–they didn’t seem to have quite decided between Robert and Adechike. I think they’re hoping the viewers will have made that choice for them, but with that brilliant “Mad World” number, I don’t think Billy is going to be in the bottom three, so I think they are going to have to pick.

  7. SHOCK! Lauren was in the bottom three and Billy did end up going home! I didn’t expect that to happen! So, what did you think about Allison’s performance?

  8. I am stunned and outraged. I don’t believe Billy landed in the bottom three this week, and frankly he outdanced Lauren (and everyone else) this week. No way did he deserve the boot. (Lauren didn’t deserve to be in the bottom three either, but the judges practically ordered the voters to put her in the finale, so it wasn’t incomprehensible.)

  9. REReader, I wish I could view your tape. I love dance sequences.

Billy did an excellent job, but the judges were just looking for a reason to send him home. Bottom 3 was enough for them.

I thought Lauren did everything that was required of her. I wish there would be more ballroom. I would like to see Pasha again!

Well, two more weeks and it will be over. Should be interesting!

  10. I am so disappointed with this show right now that I could scream. I hope Nigel’s comments about Billy’s rising career are true and that artistic directors all over the country are seeking him out!

The only saving grace for me right now is that Adechike is still there and, of course, Lauren. However, Billy was clearly the star of this show and no one embodied his grace, style, talent and charisma on that stage.

  11. I was so sad with the results. My poor Billy. I only hope that everyone is right that he will have a star-studded career somewhere. He is an absolutely brilliant dancer and so fun to watch. I am sure going to miss him. I’m not sure who I want to win now…probably Lauren.
