David Archuleta Releases Memoir Of Soul, Song And The Power Of Perseverance

Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song and the Power of Perseverance

American Idol Season 7 Top 2 Finalist, David Archuleta, is releasing his first book, a memoir of his musical and personal journey to date, on June 1st!

I know I will be purchasing this book. David has so much to offer  – his enormous vocal talent combined with his genuine strength of character is a rarity in the music business.

Sometimes when I watch the music award shows, the polluted musical nonsense  masquerading as “freedom of art and expression” is enough to make me cringe.

Is the ability to plant your two feet on stage and just sing from your heart becoming a lost art?

Oh wait, David Archuleta can do this!  Jason Castro can do this, David Cook can as well and so can Michael Buble and Josh Groban.

And, let’s not forget Britain’s Got Talent winner, Susan Boyle, who’s first CD out-sold everyone’s CD during the Christmas/Holiday season.

Thankfully, there is light at the end of the dark tunnel as many more pure and true vocal artists begin to emerge and thus discovered, hopefully marking an end the to flash in the pan music stars and their equally flash in the pan songs.

So, in the spirit of musical excellence, I truly hope that everyone rushes out and purchases many copies of this book to give as gifts. David Archuleta is a rare gem and I ache for the day when I can see vocal excellence comparable to his on live television once again.

Pre-Order is available on Amazon now!

  10. Always enjoy your views and insights, but especially regarding David. Can’t agree with you more on the state of the current music scene – a stark contrast from when I was a kid growing up, singers who could actually sing, imagine!

But as you mentioned, there are some rays of hope, and David being one of the brightest.

Am very much looking forward to his book and next album. And many thanks to you for your continual support of David.

Very very well said!!! David is a rare gem, in every aspect, and it’s good to see him getting support from pros like you, MCL! ♥ Thank you!

Also this description : “…musical nonsense masquerading as “freedom of art and expression”…” simply hits the nail on its head! I long for the day true, pure artists like David will get as much attention from people and media as those auto-tuned, hyped up and sexed up “stars” we see on TV and hear on the radio these days…

  17. It amazes me how many people agree with us as to David’s singing talent and I too am disppointed that we don’t get to see him on TV frequently. How do we get the message out there? I’m tired of Adam Lambert, Justin Beiber, Miley, etc. I do NOT see them as good role models…. for instance: Adam’s “sex” display on the award show, Justin’s arrogance at such a young age, and Miley (still loved by young girls) now setting an example of how to be Britney. UGH!!!!!
    We want David…..we want David…..we want David………..

BTW, love your site and have been coming since season 7, even though I just lurk. Your critiques are so appreciated. Thank youW

David is just a sweet, honest young man. I hope the business never changes him. Stand By Me remains my favorite performance, although Imagine also moves me.

  21. I always love reading what you have to say, especially about David A. I will be looking forward to reading your thoughts on the book. I’d love reading your highlights/general impressions of it. You are always so generous in sharing your thoughts with us, so thank you.

Also, Scott MacIntyre has an album out called “Heartstrings”. It’s available on iTunes as well as through Scott’s official website (scottmacintyre.com). Have you listened to it yet?

  22. MCL…I too always love to read what you have to say about David…because you appreciate the “singer.”
My first words to myself upon seeing David during his AI audition was, “he’s a singer’s singer”… your technical reviews and overall appreciation of David as “artist” point to that, and are valued by his fans.
As I watch all the “techno-performances” which get more and more carried away with gimmicks…just because…the technology exists, I guess..David and the like are a lost art and a treasure. I’m not completely archaic…I like choreography etc.
But for me, there is no substitute for the singer making us “feel” by…just…singing.
David has the instrument, musical ear, heart & soul connection to a song’s message and a beautiful way of communicating it.
Can’t wait to read COS and your review. David has already inspired me with many of his pearls of wisdom; I’m sure the book will have much more.
