David Archuleta has recorded a new version of “Angels” for his new full-length CD, scheduled to drop on Tuesday, November 11th.

This video, sent to me by Janey79, is absolutely exquisite. The arrangement of this song is extremely well-formulated. The orchestration is luxurious and evokes all the passion and fervor that is at the core of this beautiful song.

However, never is David’s stellar voice obliterated by the lush score. His voice is truly transcendent and he adds some new and exciting vocal flourishes to this version of this song classic. I particularly loved the head voice component during the orchestral interlude, followed by the vocal gymnastics he displayed during his final take of the refrain.

And, yet, the expressive element in his voice is ubiquitous -he truly communicates the emotional core of this song with authenticity and sensitivity.

Have a listen and, after you do so, pre-order his CD from Amazon.Com

MCL…I have to tell you, I received a call early this morning from a friend who, in the past enjoyed David and thought he had a wonderful voice. She had pre-ordered his album from itunes and received Angels at the time she placed the order. Her voice was shaking and she was near tears. “I never thought he could sound this good. His voice is spectacular and I LOVE Angels! I had to call you and tell you how much I love it!” she gushed to me. The joy in her voice was undeniable.

MCL if you pre-order the album now from itunes before 11/11 you get the 12 original tracks plus 4 bonus ones.

Thank you Janey for sending the album Angels to MCL and for this beautiful photo montage video by Joodlesnoodles.

I must admit I was quite a bit apprehensive about hearing the album version of Angels having been completely taken in by the passion of the tour version (or should I say versions).

My fears were unfounded, as true to form he changes things up and it is as if I am hearing this wonderful song for the first time. He has sung it so many times now, each a bit different – but this one is truly wonderful. It may have been done in a studio but that passion to tell a story and have us listen shines through.

This is a wonderful song that has had great personal meaning to many- and though already doing very well on iTunes in US and Canada – and having been a hit by original artist Robbie Williams in Europe – there are so many people who have not had the opportunity to hear this song in general or hear it by the one who sings it like no other – David Archuleta. It is my hope that this song becomes widely popular by being released for radio play as well as performed in many venues and widely watched shows.
We all should be so graced by this song.

    Thank you MCL
    Thank you David Archuleta

    Good morning ladies:

I am slowly getting back in the swing of things here and will be adding more content in the coming days.

However, this “Angels” version sung by Archuleta Artistry was so magnificent that I had to highlight it in a separate blog.

And, Janey – thanks for the info. re the download bonus. I have to admit I rarely download music – I prefer buying the actual CD. But, now I have a reason to do so – 4 bonus tracks! woo!

MCL, This article written by Larrry Getlen is one I’m sure you won’t want to miss.

Regarding the purchasing of CD versus downloading. Here is what we know. The itunes “deluxe” is the only way to get the 4 bonus tracks. Wal-Mart will carry one version, the original 12 with 1 bonus track. Barnes and Noble along with Amazon will carry only the original 12 track.

It appears that artists make more from the selling of physical CDs than ordering from itunes. I also know fom personal experience that songs downloaded from Amazon are far superior to those from itunes.

As for me… I will be purchasing from all of the different sources.

    Hi MCL;
Thank you for your review of David’s Angels from his crazily anticipated upcoming album! IMO your review is spot on. I have read that some feel that David’s vocals are somewhat overpowered by the production at times, but personally I never felt that way. As you put it, the lush orchestration fully fits the grandeur of the song, and David’s stunning vocals are always what shine through. I have never anticipated an album from an artist like I am this one from David.
