I am very worried about all the singers' voices when their tour buses head north from Los Angeles. There are more than a thousand lightning-caused wildfires from Bakersfield to Redding. The air here in the Bay Area is atrocious and has been for nearly a week. I have symptoms: coughing, chest & nose congestion. I've seen motorists wearing masks.

Many public and outdoor events, including July 4 fireworks, have been cancelled.

Someone should alert the AI tour and get masks for everyone. This air will be very bad for the singers when they perform in San Jose and Sacramento. Then they'll be driving further north through heavy forests on the way to Oregon.

First of all, let me categorically state that I am totally against cortisone injections for singers.

I can understand that dire circumstances call for dire solutions and I can only imagine that Cookie and Archie were suffering severe fatigue issues toward the end of the American Idol season. So, I suppose, it was a necessary, albeit, desperate measure to take!

However, over the long haul aka the Idol tour, these singers have to develop a healthy and realisitic approach in caring for their voice. Rest, proper nutrition and hyrdration and most of all - proper technique - is the key here.

I don't know if 19E send voice coaches on tour - but they should. They spend money in so many arreas except the one that is their most imporatnt commodity - the singer's voice.

MCL, as I mentioned in the other thread, David has never had any formal voice training, other than what he picked up indirectly through involvement with high school and college theater. I was especially disturbed to hear that both Davids required cortisone injections before finale week-- Archuleta one and Cook two.

My question is do you think that 19/ RCA are going to make sure he has his own voice coach now (over at TWOP, fans actually recommended you for the job!)? I'm worried that if they don't make sure that he has one, he may try to do things the way he always has done them.

And if he doesn't get professional coaching, my fear is that not only will it affect his voice during performances but that he could actually damage his vocal chords, with all the strain that his schedule will place him under. That's an area where it seems Archie is in a better position because he's basically had formal instruction ever since he started he started singing, so he's better equipped to handle the demands that they will face.

Poor Cookie does look tired- he has to deal with the Idol commitments as best he can. Maybe grab as much rest as possible (including vocal rest ala Syesha, lol) or else I fear for his voice when the tour starts. Much like Kelly Clarkson seemed to suffer from the extreme vocal demands.

I do hope, though, that he is NOT suffering from boredom with "Time of My Life". It's one of my pet peeves (and I've had many arguments with others about this) but I believe that a performer has to find ways to keep a song fresh for the benefit of his audience. But I really don't think that applies here. David does just seem tired. But did I mention how much I love it when he goes acoustic? Like Anita (or does she prefer "wadahoot"?, ha ha), I thought the song was gorgeous.

Oh my ... he looks WHIPPED. I hope he's healthy and just tired, not truly exhausted or ill. I didn't get actual bad sound, but Cookie sounds very raspy. Instead of sounding like the "time of his life" it sounds like it's time for him to go to bed with a cup of hot tea!

I do like the acoustic version ... it's lovely!
