Sorry MCL, I messed up by posting some David comment on Clay’s thread. Not a regular poster. I also would like to hear your critique on David’s SBM on The View. I thought I was watching a different performer there. It’s exciting to see how much he improved within just 3 weeks. I am no musician, but I hope you could talk about his new runs added at the end of the song. They seem so tight and fast and difficult to do.

Oh, I too would love to hear your critique of David’s Stand By Me on The View. I thought it was even better than the version on Idol. He seems so much more confident and relaxed. It was soulful and oh, so sweet!

Archie just performed on the view… Sand Stand By Me, and I thought it was invcedible!! 10x better than on AI. Getting better with that mic stand too. Its a bit different than what he did on the show and there is added verses in it too.

When things calm down and you have time, could you answer a question that we didn’t get to in the live chat?

It’s about your analysis of David’s Top 3 performances, “AND SO IT GOES”, “WITH YOU” and “LONGER” (May 13).

You wrote, “You have a solid bel canto approach to your singing style that deserves applause and recognition. Your vowel placement is so secure, as you have adopted a natural preference to eliminating the messy diphthong components within your lyrics through a more refined approach to your diction and articulation.”

Please explain what you mean by “a natural preference to eliminating the messy diphthong components”. Could you give an example? In a word like ‘joy’, how would David articulate the two vowels sounds? Would he eliminate one of them?

It’s not a terribly important question, so there’s no hurry. I’ve always admired David’s diction, however, and would like to understand better.

Hi, masterclasslady, your live chat at Fanblast was pretty interesting. I missed to join in, though, but got to read the transcript. Thank you for enlightening us on the technical aspects of David’s singing, which made me all the more appreciate this young man and his amazing talent! I like your math regarding David’s musical ability (100% God-given and 100 technique). I just can’t begin to imagine the dedication and discipline that he has been putting to hone this skill to get him where he is at right now, and I just know that he wil just get better!

I hope you will grace Fanblast again soon!

Rereader – after today, my schedule lightens up tremendously. I have a busy day today providing piano accompaniment for dance exams and then it’s all over for the season.
