David Archuleta, David Cook, Syesha Mercado
I am going out on a limb here. I think the Top 3 performances are going to be spectacular.

I love the Judges’ song choice for the singers. Although we do not have full confirmation of the other two songs that the singers will be showcasing, I thought the judges did a remarkable job in the song selection process.

David Archuleta: Judge’s Choice (Paula Abdul): And So it Goes by Billy Joel
David’s Choice: With You by Chris Brown
Producers’ Choice: Longer by Dan Fogelberg

David Cook: Judge’s Choice (Simon Cowell): The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack
David’s Choice:Dare You To Move by Switchfoot
Producers’ Choice:I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing byAerosmith

Syesha Mercado: Judge’s Choice (Randy Jackson):Alicia Keyes’s If I Ain’t Got You
                                    Syesha’s Choice: Fever
Producers’ Choice: Hit Me Up by Gia Farrell

MCL, I’ve been reading your American Idol singers’ reviews for several seasons but I’ve never written to let you know how much I enjoy them. I can’t wait each week to see what you’ll say because you are so positive about each of them, even when you’re pointing out something they need to work on. Although I”m not a singer, (I do like to sing in my community choir–badly, I might add–and I’m my church’s pianist) your critiques help me understand the performances so much better. Thank you so much for taking your time to write these articles. I also enjoy the comments of your other readers because everyone keeps their posts so positive. It’s fine to have favorites, but I don’t think that means you have to demean the remaining singers. Thanks again and I hope you had a happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you so much DSSmith! Nice to see you here.

So, you are an accompanist? Hardest job in the world. Your Church must value your musical contribution tremendously.

Yes, my readers are the best - so positive and so supportive in their commentary. This is what we strive to do on this blogging site - provide honest and objective critique for the Idol fans and, perhaps, a contestant or two who may be lurking. :)

MJ has a few more spoilers up on her blog ( http://mjsbigblog.com/ ):

David Cook’s own choice is “The World I Know” by Collective Soul

David Archuleta’s own choice is “With You” by Chris Brown, and the producers chose “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg for him.

    (Nothing new on Syesha’s choices.)

I’ll have to make some time to listen these choices on YouTube, they are not familiar to me!

  4. masterclasslady Says:

Thanks Rereader - I added them!

  5. masterclasslady Says:

    Longer is a gorgeous number.

  6. jche7793 Says:

Why in the heck did Randy Jackson pick If I Ain’t Got You for Syesha? He really thought long and hard about that one.

  7. rereader Says:

    I’ve just been at DanFogelberg’s website–so THAT’s “Longer”! I love that song!

Looking at those song choices, looks like it is going to be a great Idol night! Yeehaw…looking forward to it….let’s see what the final 3 do :)

Hi, first time posting here although for many years I have faithfully read and look forward to your reviews each week. I’m sorry you were ill and I’m so glad that you’re back to guide us along the way. I go to the AI forum each week to read other reviews and if I have time I will usually pop into the General Discussion, I rarely comment as it’s sort of like knocking your head against the wall. When the TMZ
mess started on Friday I went to the AI General Discussion thread and it literally
sickened me. I love the show, i think it’s an amazing journey for a bunch of kids
who may not have had another chance at living their dreams. I have appreciated
all their efforts this year, have really liked a few and I confess to David Archuleta being my favorite.

IMO, what has happened with all the un-substantiated news reporting borders on being slanderous and certainly malicious. I am so frightened for him tonight that all of this could possibly affect his performances that I am beside myself. I can hardly believe that I’m in such a state. Is anyone else feeling the same way? Thanks, just had to share this, my husband would think I’m going nuts……

OMG, the producers chose freakin “Hit Me Up” for Syesha from the soundtrack of Happy Feet.

  11. rereader Says:

MJ’s now reporting that Syesha’s own choice is Peggy Lee’s “Fever.” (Hmmmm. That should be…interesting. Could work.) And, as jche7793 said, the producer’s choice for her is “Hit Me Up.”

Nothing yet on the producers’ choice for David C.

  12. jche7793 Says:

They are all up now on the mjsbigblog site.

  13. masterclasslady Says:

Added the confirmed list. Looks like it will be a great show.

simon….i thought your very strict with vocals….then why all the praises on cooks third song…without the strings and the band…he would sound really bad….

masterclasslady…waiting for your assessment of the performances……
